Directors’ Conclave
JRE GROUP of Institutions has, as its key academic partner, Raffles Education Corporation Ltd, Singapore. This is the largest private education provider in the region comprising 30 colleges in 28 cities across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific and Europe.
Objective of Directors’ Conclave In order to promote quality technical education in India, and to support collaborative relationships between different Engineering Institutes, JRE has taken the initiative to bring together the leaders of the local institutes to review topical, yet critical educational challenges. Ongoing developments in the arena of technology, the exponential growth in information, and progressive changes in industrial needs have resulted in the imperative for engineering students to learn a diversified set of real‐world skills. This results in serious challenges to teaching in general, and to pedagogy in particular when the curriculum is viewed as packed and bound by time constraints. Project Based Learning is viewed as one way in which such skill development may be promoted, but this requires serious management and operational support and resourcing.
With this end point in mind, JRE has actively engaged with the IUCEE (Indo US Collaboration for Engineering Education) under the superb leadership of Prof Krishna Vedula, Executive Director, Professor and Dean Emeritus, University of Massachusetts Lowell. His global expertise and energy are key to the IUCEE aim to transform engineering education in India, and we are honoured to host him at the JRE Campus. We are delighted and grateful that Prof Vedula and Prof Bill Oakes, Director EPICS, Purdue University have consented to conduct a comprehensive, three‐stage certification program for incorporating PBL into the engineering curriculum.
A detailed program itinerary is furnished along with this invitation, and we urge all institutions to encourage a couple of enthusiastic faculty to participate in the first part of
ththe certification program on 16 July ‘15.
Thanks and Regards
