January 2016 NewletterTRANSCRIPT
Dear Church Family,
The year 2015 has gone rather quickly. It is time for us to focus on the new year and see it
as an opportunity to be and do what God has called us to.
What kind of vision do you have for the future? Let me encourage you, if you have not done so, to set some personal goals for yourself, in the areas of physical, emotional, financial and spiritual. What about some goals for your area of ministry in your church? Of course, providing that Jesus does not return (which could happen anytime), where do
you see yourself, your family, and your church this time next year?
I believe that 2016 will provide you and me opportunities to be witnesses for Jesus. People will be observing us, as God’s people, as to our attitude and behavior and how we respond to life’s challenges. What a great time for us to be able to share a witness with both our example and our words, to what God can do. He still gives love, forgiveness, hope, peace,
joy and purpose. How can you lose with those provisions?
These are some things that I wish for all of us for this new year:
1. That God would nudge us out of our comfort zones, as we seek to obey Him. It is
easy to get in a routine and become content. Sometimes we need to take a risk for
God and step out in faith.
2. That we would know the thrill of personally seeing someone come to know Jesus.
Remember that everyone will spend eternity in one of two places, heaven or hell.
How exciting to know that someone is going to heaven because you had a part in
sharing Jesus with someone.
3. That we would seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
What is priority in your life?
My prayer is that we, as a church body, are all that God desires us to be. It is not so much
about doing church as it is about being the church. Let’s be found faithful in this new year!
In His love,
Bro. Darrol Bro. Darrol Bro. Darrol Bro. Darrol

Sons of The Father In Concert
Location: First Baptist Church Date: January 31, 2016 Time: 6:00 pm
Sons of The Father are full-time music evangelists traveling out of West Frankfort, IL. This father and his
two sons have been ministering across the nation since 1989 in an average of 175 events a year. Using a
variety of styles, from acappella hymns and inspirational music to southern and contemporary gospel, Sons
of The Father sing everywhere from the largest churches and events in the nation to the local church. They
split their time between Bible Conferences, Concerts, Revivals, and other special events.
Sons of The Father is Les, Chris and Brent Snyder. On the road since 1976, Les had been doing an
itinerant music ministry, when his sons joined him in 1989. Their ministry takes them from the largest
churches and conventions in America to some of the smallest in rural and sparsely populated areas. They
have 21 recordings together and Brent also has a solo recording. All three of the Sons of The Father are
ordained ministers and feel called by God to do what they do. A "show" is not really what Sons of The Father
are about. For them it's about ministering to people through music and sharing The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

KidZ~Korner Children’s Department January 2016
First, let me say THANK YOU to everyone that bought gifts and made donations to the KidZ~Korner Angel Tree
Ministry. Through your kind and generous actions you were salt and light to many families in our church and
community. With your assistance, we provided gifts to 46 children. Many families also received personal care items and
food. So again, thank you for allowing Jesus to use you to help others.
Thanks Michelle Young, for heading up the Children’s Christmas Program, and for everyone that assisted her ,
and to you our church friends and family for supporting us. The children faithfully attend Life Group, Children’s
Church, AWANA, complete Mission projects, give offering, and are learning to serve in various ways. They are truly a
part of TODAY’S CHURCH, and you are each mentoring them as they watch and model your actions.
AWANA AND Good News Clubs will r esume on January 6. AWANA has more exciting times ahead, so Leaders
and KidZ- get ready! Cars and trucks will be available soon for the AWANA Grand Prix. We need a few adults to
volunteer in assisting children with preparing their vehicle for the big race. If you could help, please see Clay or Julie
Brantley. Coming Awana events in January:
01/06-Regular Book Night, 01/13-PJ Night, 01/20-Book Night, 01/27–Western Night
Bring a friend and enjoy campfire food!
Good News Clubs has a cur rent enrollment of almost 100 children from the two local elementary schools, and 10
children have accepted Christ in the past 3 months. We are so blessed that God has kept this door open for us to enter
into the schools and teach children about Jesus. Keep praying for us!
The annual Risk Management Training is Sunday, January 17, 2016! This is a mandatory meeting for everyone
who works in any capacity with preschool, children or students. Please make every effort to attend.
The Preschool and Children’s Ministry leaders wish each and everyone a Happy and Healthy NEW YEAR!

Dear Church Family, 2016 is here!!! It is hard to believe how quickly this year has come and gone. With everything in a blur, we are hitting the ground running this year in the Student Ministry! We already have tons of events and activities planned and are very excited about all we are going to be doing this year!
I wanted to take a minute and give you a snapshot of our upcoming activities. January and February are busy months and we ask that you will join us and pray for us as we journey through the following weeks.
O2 CAFÉ
Beginning January 4th, we will be reintroducing the 2016 O2 Café. The café will be open every Monday evening in January (and potentially February) from 5:00pm – 6:30pm in the Smith Building. Join us for a meal and help the students raise money for special events such as YOUTH CAMP!!! I will reveal the menu for the following night each Sunday during the morning announcements.
WINTER JAM
PLANET WISDOM
Planet Wisdom is a two day discipleship conference that is absolutely life changing. This year’s theme is titled BECAUSE OF JESUS: what He has done and what that means
for us. The conference will be held at the Lakeland Centre (Civic Center) on January 29th & 30th, and will cost $52.00 per student. If you have a student (7th-12th grade) who would like to attend this event or if you would like to sponsor a student to go, please contact me at the church office as soon as possible.
As always, it is an honor to serve this church body. Thank you for being the people you are and for loving the Lord the way you do!
Keep fishing,
Bro. Brian

Risk Management Meeting
The annual Risk Management Meeting is
Sunday, January 17, 4:30 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall. This is a mandatory
meeting for anyone who works in any
capacity with nursery, preschool, children
or students.
We will discuss policy and procedures
concerning reducing the risk of child abuse
and other security issues.
If for any reason you will not be able to
attend the meeting, please contact the
church office. A make up meeting will be
held on Sunday, February 7 at 4:30 p.m.
O2 Café Student Fundraiser
The O2 Café is back this year! Each
Monday in January, the Smith Building will
be opened from 5:00-6:30 p.m. The church
body and the community are invited to dine.
The minimum donation is $7.00.
The O2 Café is a fun way to incorporate
student service into fundraising. All funds
donated during this time will go to the
students who serve. The proceeds help
provide financial aid to students attending
Super Summer Camp July 18-22, 2016.
Thank you for your continual support.
