ABOUT NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES:
NCDS
Non-communicable diseases, alsoknown as chronic diseases, tend tobe of long duration and are the resultof a combination of genetic,physiological, environmental andbehavioural factors.

They are not transmissibledirectly from one person toanother.
There are five major types of NCDsNCDS
Cancer, Chronic respiratory disease,Stroke, Cardiovascular diseases,Diabetes
Cardiovascular diseases are at thetop, in 2016 a staggering 28.1% of alldeaths in India were caused byheart conditions.
Diabetes is also responsible for amajority of morbidity and mortality inthe country. Mental health and injuriesalso have a considerable burden.

Ayushman Bharat: Under AyushmanBharat 1,50,000 existing Sub- HealthCentres (SHCs) and Primary Health Centres(PHCs) are being upgraded to Health &Wellness Centres (HWCs) which will becapable of screening NCDs likehypertension, diabetes, Cardiovasculardisease, oral and breast cancer free of cost.
NPCDCS: The National Programme forPrevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes,Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke(NPCDCS) under the National Health Mission(NHM) is an effort by the Central Governmentwhich supplements State Government's effort.The objectives of the programme includehealth promotion activities and opportunisticscreening for common NCDs including cancer.
