Nigel was also due to be host but actually inveigled Grumpy into giv-ing the speakers vote of thanks, as he was first through the door! ..

Speakers from The Wiltshire Tree House Charity were Kate & Zoe

Starters of Roasted Butternut Squash Soup or Pressed Ham Hock Terrine with salad. Main meal of Baked Chicken Breast in bacon, Stuffing, Pigs in Blankets or Leek & Potato Blue Cheese Tart. Pudding of Chocolate Yule Log and double Cream (Jan Kilby kindly supplied the desert as a Merry Christmas to all Rotarians – how nice was

that of Jan) After a short comfort break and with all bellies full, Kate and Zoe stood up and introduced themselves. Wiltshire Treehouse is a relatively new charity to Swindon and is aimed at child bereavement in Swindon. Currently a parent of a child under 18 dies every 22 minutes in the UK and 92% of children will lose someone important to them by

the time they are 16. Many children can cope with bereavement but some will need specialist support and Wiltshire Treehouse aims to be there for them if needed. Wiltshire Treehouse works in partnership with CBUK (Child Bereavement United Kingdom) they are the only dedicated children and young person’s bereavement service in Swindon, they have no funding and rely solely on donations, fundraising and volunteers.

Since their launch they have run 3 CHYPS groups which are open to all family members helping around 36 families, many with multiple siblings. They also hold one to one sessions with six families who do not want to be involved with open sessions.

Wiltshire Treehouse have arranged professional training for 16 volunteers and have managed to do all of this with just one part time member of staff working just ten hours a week and the help of their volunteers. During their first year they have realised the huge demand for a children’s and young per-son’s bereavement service in Swindon.

President Nicole’s Christmas event will be held at her home on 18th December from 3.30pm – 6.00pm, price is £10.00 for adults only and in-cludes food and drink. Children are all welcome but we are warned to wrap up warm as event will be outside, Santa will also be there for the chil-dren and any adults that still haven’t grown up yet! Tim Swinyard’s birthday is on the 9th December, so happy birthday Tim. Returning from holiday was Nigel/Julie who had recently visited New York. They were Celebrating Nigel’s BIG birthday!

Next meeting will be on January 4th 2017 and our host is Rotarian Ian Gill. Meeting closed at 9.30pm with a toast to Rotary around the World and everyone wishing each other a ……………...“Merry Christmas”

Winning numbers drawn for November 2016

Winning numbers each receive £97.50 and their chosen charitable causes approved by the Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix) will each receive £119.16

Owner of winning number 44 chosen charitable cause this month is Alzheimer’s Re-search UK www.alzheimersresearchuk.org Owner of winning number 29 chosen charitable cause this month is The Salvation Ar-my www.salvationarmy.org.uk John has rounded up his charitable winnings to £150.00 from his personal winnings. Owner of winning number 92 chosen charitable cause this month is The Jaipur Limb Pro-ject www.jaipurlimb.org.uk

So far Club 1000 has paid out £9744.91 to winning members with a further total of £20664.93 going to members chosen charitable causes, including members donating their personal winning prize money to The Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix Charity account.

None of Club 1000 funds go towards the Swindon Phoenix Rotary Club charities unless requested by the winning number holders, all money raised from Club 1000 for that month goes to the three winning numbers and their chosen charitable causes.
