Paul Lancaster Adams Selected for B estL awyers In A m eric a

Paul Lancaster Adams, managing shareholder of the Phil-

adelphia office of Ogletree Deakins, has been selected for

inclusion in the B es tL awyers in A meric a 2014 for the prac-

tice areas of Labor and Employment Litigation and Em-

ployment Law Management. Ogletree Deakins is one of

ABA Issues Report on Legal Issues Facing Latinos in the U.S.

Issued at the American Bar Association’s August meeting, the report provides recom-

mendations on how the legal community can best serve the legal needs of Latinos in

the United States. It documents a yearlong fact-gathering process at stakeholder meet-

ings and at six regional hearings that included testimony from more than 120 witnesses

who represent a broad spectrum of the Hispanic community and its national leadership.

While immigration is not fully covered in the report, the impact of immigration is woven

in the everyday life of Hispanics in this country. The commission concluded that issues

related to immigration must be addressed in order for the Latino community to fully be

able to serve and participate as contributing members of society.

George Hazel Nominated for U.S. District Court Seat

George Hazel currently serves as the Chief Deputy State’s Attorney for Baltimore City, a

position he has held since 2011. Before joining the Office of the State’s Attorney, Hazel

served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Maryland from 2008 to

Senate Confirms Weil Partner Vernon Broderick as SDNY Judge

Vernon S. Broderick, a Litigation partner in Weil’s NewYork office, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate tobe a United States District Judge for the Southern Dis-trict of New York. Broderick was nominated to thebench by President Obama in April 2013. He concen-trates his practice on white collar criminal cases, regu-latory investigations, and business litigation. Broderickpreviously served as an Assistant United States Attor-ney in the Southern District of New York from 1994 to2002, during which time he twice received the JusticeDepartment’s Director’s Award for Superior Perfor-mance, and was Chief of the Violent Gangs Unit from1999 to 2002. He began his legal career as an associ-ate at Weil from 1988 to 1994.

Walter White Named to 2014 Power List

Walter H. White, Jr., a partner in McGuire Woods’ DCand London offices, was been named in Power List2014: Britain’s Most Influential Black People. Fewerthan 100 individuals are included on the prestigiouslist, which is produced in partnership with J.P. Mor-gan. The list includes men and women of African andCaribbean descent who have made notable achieve-ments in business, politics, arts and media.

Pamela Bethel Inducted into National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame

O’Riordan Bethel Executive Partner Pamela J. Bethelwill be inducted into the National Black College AlumniHall of Fame for her achievements in the field Govern-ment/Law. The ceremony will take place September 26,2013 in Atlanta. The National Black College Alumni Hallof Fame Foundation is dedicated to the growth and de-velopment of Historically Black Colleges and Universi-ties. To this end, the Hall of Fame secures supple-mental scholarships for students and recognizes the ac-complishments of distinguished alumni.
