Message from the CEO and Diversity & Inclusion Chairman

Here at Navigant, without exception, our people

are our greatest asset. We take great pride in

fostering a community of innovation, collaboration, and

entrepreneurialism in an effort to deliver best-in-class

services to our global clients and a best-in-class experience

for our professionals. These characteristics are maximized by

the power of diversity — diversity of experience, talent, and

thought. This is what makes Navigant great.

2015 marked another year of growth and evolution for

Navigant’s Diversity & Inclusion Program. Our commitment

to ongoing progress in this area is embedded in our work

environment and is reinforced through both our Diversity &

Inclusion Council and our Employee Resource Groups that

represent, celebrate, and empower differences amongst our Navigant colleagues. Just as

we know that labels such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, and

veteran are limiting, we understand that our Diversity & Inclusion Program must adapt

and grow.

We invite you to peruse the stories of our collective impact made during 2015. We look

forward to 2016 as we continue to enhance our Program to involve more employees

and deepen connections with our communities, all in an effort to foster a dynamic work

environment in which we can create the best possible opportunities for our employees

and our clients.

Sincerely,

Julie Howard, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Sonya Kwon, Chairman, Diversity & Inclusion Council

Overview of the Diversity & Inclusion ProgramThe Mission of Navigant’s Diversity & Inclusion Program is to create a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable

environment that respects, values, and celebrates the unique attributes, characteristics, and perspectives that

make each person who they are. We are committed to building awareness, fostering professional development,

building connections, attracting and retaining top talent, and developing relationships to ensure that diversity,

in its many forms, is understood, respected, and valued. Through our diverse workforce, we are able to address

our clients’ needs through diversity in experience and perspective, providing value-added services and a

competitive edge in the market. The program provides employees with a channel to connect with each other

and become meaningfully involved in the company and in our communities. At the core of the Program are our

six (6) Employee Resource Groups, which are internal, global employee networks that are open to all, regardless

of background, and provide a channel for employees to connect with each other and their communities.

Diversity in the News

SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

The Hiring Decision That Transformed a Company – and an

Employee’s Future is an INC.com article that tells the story of

how Ellen Zimiles, Managing Director, has hired and mentored

employees with autism. The article highlights how Ellen hired

Dennis Giammusso in 2008 to join her firm, Daylight Forensic

& Advisory, which was later acquired by Navigant. The article

continues to explain how Dennis, as well as a second employee

on the autism spectrum, have thrived at Navigant. This article is

a great example of the culture at Navigant — one of acceptance

and inclusion that celebrates differences and has the ability to

understand and recognize people’s unique talents.

TAKING A STAND AGAINST ANTI-LGBT LEGISLATION

In 2015, a wave of anti-LGBT bills and ordinances were filed

across the country. Lawmakers introduced more than 85 anti-

LGBT bills in 28 state legislatures, including Indiana, Georgia, and

Arkansas. Navigant’s Chairman and CEO, Julie Howard, signed

HRC’s “Equality is Our Business” statement on behalf of Navigant,

calling on public officials to defeat or abandon efforts to enact

this type of harmful legislation.

The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which prohibited

discrimination on the basis of 15 characteristics in city

employment, city services, city contracting practices, housing,

public accommodations, and private employment did not pass.

Unfortunately, HERO was overturned in a bitterly contested

voter referendum, making Houston one of the few large cities in

America without LGBT protections. Leading up to the election,

many false claims and scare tactics were used to spread fear

about the LGBT community, particularly the transgender

community; however, many businesses did not remain silent.

We are very proud that Navigant took a stand in honor of HERO.

Prior to the election, with support from CEO and Chairman Julie

Howard, Navigant issued a statement of support on the company

website and through Twitter.

“We’ve learned that the inclusion of diverse perspectives in generating ideas is one of the most effective ways to drive innovation in a highly regulated industry like ours. The diversity of expertise, thought and experience within the resources we utilize via our consultant relationship is a natural extension of our culture to enable us to achieve these goals.”

/ CYNTHIA CETANI NOVARTIS PHARMACEUTICALS

“The broad diversity of Navigant’s professional talent is one of Navigant’s greatest strengths in today’s global arena. For example, we selected Navigant to assist our large, Japanese Engineering, Procurement and Construction client on a complex power project in Mexico. Navigant was able to provide a professional of Japanese heritage who is familiar with the custom and culture, and therefore better able to service our Japanese client. Moreover, Navigant provided a native Spanish speaking scheduling expert who was able to understand and incorporate into his expert analysis the highly technical Spanish language scheduling and engineering documents critical to our case. This diversity of expertise is invaluable to a law firm like ours that represents clients on projects around the globe.”

What our Clients are Saying

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION ANNUAL REPORT // 2015

“It is so crucial to me that I work for an employer that is caring and tolerant and non-discriminatory. Navigant is all of those things and more.”

/ KRIS PRYOR, ADMINISTRATIVE GENERALIST OPERATIONS

“As a born and bred Texan with 15+ years of work history, Navigant is the first employer I’ve ever had to offer equal partner benefits. The firm’s support of its LGBT employees goes far beyond that of just offering insurance coverage. Navigant’s ongoing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion has been a pleasant surprise to my wife and I, and we are extremely proud to be a part of Navigant.”

/ SARAH GOLDEN, MANAGER HUMAN CAPITAL

“I am proud to be part of Navigant’s on-going commitment to equality, work place differences, personal freedoms, and respect for each ‘individual’.”

/ COLLEEN HITTLE, MANAGING DIRECTOR DISPUTES & INVESTIGATIONS

What Our Employees Are Saying

“Through the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), the many activities held around the Firm and the deep and lasting friendships we make among those similar to ourselves, Navigant’s Diversity & Inclusion program gives everyone a welcoming, nurturing space in which to grow and flourish. But the real power of diversity is in our interactions not within our affinity groups, but outside them. When we interact with those who are different from ourselves, that’s when the real growth happens, when decisions become better and when possibilities multiply. That’s why Navigant’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is so important and so powerful.”

Building Awareness & Cultural CompetencyNavigant fosters an inclusive environment both within the office and the communities in which it operates.

CHICAGO PRIDE PARADE

What’s quickly becoming a yearly tradition, Navigant once again

participated in the Chicago Pride Parade. Over 70 employees,

family, friends, and colleagues walked in the city’s largest Pride

celebration showing support for the LGBT community.

AIDS WALK NEW YORK

Continuing with the theme and mission of the Black/African

Ancestry ERG of helping those in need, ERG members, family,

and friends participated in the New York City AIDS Walk.

Navigant employees raised over $8,500 to support organizations

that help those affected by AIDS.

THE JUNIOR COUNCIL’S 27TH ANNUAL SNOWBALL

The Young Professionals ERG sponsored the Junior Council’s

Snowball event benefiting the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/

AIDs research clinic at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago held

at Union Station. It was a wonderful night of networking and

fundraising that created awareness about the need for funding

for pediatric and adolescent HIV/AIDS.

ROAD TO THE SUPREME COURT

June 2015 marked a historic Pride Month with the Supreme Court

decision in Obergefell v. Hodges affirming a constitutional right for

same-sex couples to marry in all 50 U.S. states. In the weeks before

that historic decision, Navigant was extremely fortunate to hear

directly from the lead plaintiff, Jim Obergefell, during a live call

with Navigant employees. Employees from across the Firm tuned in

to hear Jim tell his powerful, moving, and historically pivotal story.

“As a young professional at Navigant, it is important to become involved in local organizations and give back to the community. The Snowball Gala benefits the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Navigant continuously works to give back to the community and this event is a great way to benefit children in the community. Furthermore, it’s a great event that also allows people to network and meet other professionals in a fun-filled environment.”

/ SEHER DHOLAKIA, SENIOR CONSULTANT GLOBAL CONSTRUCTION

“One of the key reasons I joined Navigant was its commitment toward LGBT diversity in the workplace. Scoring 100% on the HRC corporate equality index is no easy task to achieve, and for many years, Navigant has gone above and beyond to ensure this exceptional recognition from the Human Rights Campaign is maintained.”

/ TREVOR EADE, SENIOR MANAGER MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

“It’s refreshing to see a company like Navigant embracing different cultures. The Diversity & Inclusion Program prepares our employees for success when working with culturally diverse clients. As Navigant continues to expand globally, it is clear that the company’s appreciation for diversity positively differentiates us in the market.”

/ KEIJI ASADA, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR DISPUTES & INVESTIGATIONS

CULTURAL AWARENESS TRAINING

An intra and cross-practice engagement team was assembled

and assigned to assist a client in Japan. In preparation for the

trip, Navigant’s Asian Ancestry ERG provided a three hour-

long seminar to help the team understand Japanese heritage

and cultural, and business protocols. The guest speaker and

advisor was Chiaki Tokiwa, who serves as the Japan Outreach

Initiative (JOI) Coordinator. JOI is funded nationally by the Japan

Foundation Center for Global Partnership with local support from

Subaru of Indiana and the Japan-America.

An authentic Japanese lunch was served as they discussed the

following topics:

• What are some of the major differences between US and

Japanese business environments?

• Business flow – how do the Japanese businessmen deal with

American companies?

• Business card exchange

• Common Greetings and Salutations

• Attire Hierarchy

Building ConnectionsNavigant provides employees with channels to connect with each other and become meaningfully involved in the company

and in our communities

“Navigant’s Diversity & Inclusion Program offers a number of ways to make an impact in our communities. For the second year in a row, Navigant’s New York Office participated in a bake sale to support Cookies for Kids Cancer, an organization which provides annual research grants to the top-five leading pediatric cancer centers to advance the development of less toxic, more effective treatments for children battling cancer. With the Firm’s support through the Diversity & Inclusion Program, and with the help of Lending A Hand, we raised over $6,500 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer!”

/ KATIA NAAMO, MANAGING CONSULTANT INSURANCE AND INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

COOKIES FOR KIDS’ CANCER!

Navigant partnered with the charity Cookies for Kids’ Cancer! and hosted a bake sale

to raise funds. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer! provides annual research grants to the top five

leading pediatric cancer centers to advance the development of less toxic, more effective

treatments for children battling cancer. The bake sale was an overwhelming success with

over $6,500 raised in partnership with Navigant’s Lend A Hand Foundation.

WOMEN’S POWER BREAKS

The Women’s ERG is committed to promoting the personal and professional success

of women within Navigant through training, networking opportunities, and continuous

professional and personal development. The Women’s ERG Power Break Planning

Committees planned and hosted a variety of events that focused on networking and

professional development. The Chicago office held a networking lunch where over 40

women gathered to enjoy conversation, exchanged work tips, and met new people. The

DC office held a lunch and learn panel discussion featuring senior women who shared their

experiences including work-life balance, challenges, and issues they have faced, and how

they’ve handled different and difficult situations. The NYC office held a Paint Nite where

more than 25 women came together for a fun night of painting and internal networking.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

During Black History Month, the Black/African Ancestry ERG

organized a school supply drive—“#Equipped4Success” — in

partnership with Navigant’s 1Million x 2020 campaign , which

aims to impact one million youth by the year 2020 in college and

career readiness. Over 15 offices throughout the Firm collected

and donated more than 13,000 school supplies, affecting nearly

1,000 youth.

“It was an honor and privilege to be a part of Navigant’s Black/African Ancestry ERG in organizing and executing #Equipped4Success. It is extremely important I work for a company that offers a platform for their employees to lead, collaborate and participate in making a meaningful impact in supporting our next generation. Navigant provides plenty of opportunities to make a difference in our world, every day.”

/ MERRY JONES, SPECIALIST OPERATIONS

THURGOOD MARSHALL ACADEMY

Navigant has continued to build and expand our relationships with organizations within the community. Our partnership with the

Thurgood Marshall Academy, located in Washington, D.C., is one of those relationships that has continued to thrive and benefit all

involved. Employees in the Washington, D.C. office hosted a “Job Shadow” day whereby students learned about careers in consulting

and employees assisted with the students’ scholarship and collage applications.

“I’ve had a wonderful experience with the Coaching Program. My coach has been a wonderful mentor and has provided me with guidance and the push that I need to move my goals forward. My coach is always available and willing to help despite his extremely busy schedule.”

/ NARI YOON, MANAGING CONSULTANT GOVERNMENT HEATHCARE SOLUTIONS

ERG-BASED COACHING PROGRAM

The ERG-Based Informal Coaching Program continued to grow

in 2015. The number of participants doubled to over 100 and the

coaching pairs enjoyed connecting and discussing a variety of

topics including personal growth, professional development, and

career planning.

Fostering Professional DevelopmentThe ERGs provide a number of opportunities for personal and professional development.

THE WOMEN’S ERG FOCUS ON MINDFULNESS

Nearly 200 employees, including 11 different office group

viewings, participated in a mindfulness webinar presented live in

the Chicago office by Priti Patel of LIFE XT. Ms. Patel discussed

the history of mindfulness, the science behind this practice, why

it works, and how to bring mindfulness into the workplace.

CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latino Ancestry

Employee Resource Group hosted Mr. Manuel Medina, Founder

and Managing Partner of Medina Capital. Mr. Medina talked

about his background, the roads he took to success, and how his

Hispanic heritage both helped and hindered him along his journey.

THE ASIAN ANCESTRY ERG CELEBRATES ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH

The Asian Ancestry Employee Resource Group welcomed Amy Chua, Yale Law School professor and author of Battle Hymn of the Tiger

Mom, to speak on her new book, The Triple Package: How Three Unlikely Traits Explain the Rise and Fall of Cultural Groups in America.

In the book, Amy Chua and husband/co-author Jed Rubenfeld contend that three traits— insecurity, a superiority complex, and impulse

control— generate drive, grit and disproportionate success. Supported by statistics and original research, Professor Chua discussed how

some individuals and cultural groups in the U.S. seem to consistently outperform others. Professor Chua also shared how the “Triple

Package” varies by gender and culture.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR NAVIGANT’S YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

A representative from the CAIA Association gave a presentation

on the CAIA designation to the young professionals in the

Washington, D.C. office. The presentation covered both the subject

matter included in the CAIA curriculum as well as the process a

candidate goes through in order to obtain the designation.

“Mindfulness in the workplace is increasingly recognized by top companies, such as Navigant, as a smart business strategy. Implementing simple mindfulness practices into day to day activities has shown benefits to individual and team performance, leading to improved work quality, productivity and satisfaction at work. I am grateful that Navigant fosters a workplace culture in which people who are interested in mindfulness can collaborate to cultivate these practices in our work. The benefits accrue to ourselves and our clients.”

Attracting and Retaining Top TalentNavigant’s employee recruitment efforts are designed to attract and retain the top talent that we need to

address our clients’ most challenging business problems. Navigant’s employees recognize that diversity is a competitive necessity and that reaching the broadest pool of candidates is in the best interests of the

Firm and our clients. Our employees are highly engaged and invested in the recruitment process and

participate in training that helps them identify and address any unconscious biases they may have.

Navigant’s Diversity & Inclusion program helps employees forge new relationships, share expertise and

advice, and receive valuable feedback and insights. It allows our professionals to grow their internal and external networks, develop a greater affinity for different experiences, and enhance cultural competency—a vital leadership skill in today’s global business environment.

Navigant works to connect members of each group at local offices and Firmwide with networking activities,

client-related events, professional and personal development, and community service projects. Activities

relate to one or more core program objectives, including awareness, connection, personal and professional development, and network building, all designed to support each employee in

achieving his or her aspirations.

In 2015, Navigant continued to enhance recruitment of Veterans and individuals with disabilities through

partnerships with state and national agencies, national non-profit and government organizations, and local

career fairs.

Navigant’s approach to fostering an inclusive environment and supporting its employees has resulted in a

100 Corporate Equality Index rating from the Human Rights Campaign for seven consecutive years.
