What is Tawhid? Unity of God?Witnessing the Reality

• And we witness, exclaiming:– There is no Healer but God– There is no Sustainer but God– There is no Compassionate but God– There is no Forgiver but God– There is no Powerful but God

• And all the perfect qualities belong to Him.

• By observing the universe and ourselves, we witness the truth and declare that:– There is no deity but God.

And in the Earth are signs for those who comprehend.

And within yourselves; do you not see51:20-21

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of God (p), said, “God says: 'I asked you for food and you did not feed Me.

He (His servant) will say, 'Lord, how could I feed You when You did not ask me for food and You are the Lord of the universe?'

He will say, 'Do you not know that My servant so-and-so asked you for food and you did not feed him? Do you not know that if you had fed him, you

would have found that action with Me? Son of Adam, I asked you for water and you did not give Me water.'

The servant will reply, 'O Lord, how could I give you water when You are the Lord of the universe?'

He will say, 'My servant so-and-so asked you for water and you did not give him water. Do you not know that if you had given him water, you would have

found that action with Me?Son of Adam, I was ill and you did not visit Me.'

He will say, 'O Lord, how could I visit You when You are the Lord of the universe?'

He will say, 'Do you not know that My slave so-and-so was ill. If you had visited him you would have found that action with Me."

Look at any particular event in life…

Page 8: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

And see the difference….

Page 9: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

The particular act transforms to a universal reality

You can see with your heart the earth as a hospital and

the True Healer, who supplies the remedies for all ills,

physical and spiritual, and answers all needs

One Divine Action

And I watch with my heart and taste with my spirit

Through divine unity:

Page 16: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Divine beauty and perfection becomes apparent in every particular

Page 17: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

And is seen with the heart and felt with our spirit

Page 18: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Prophets and friends of Godhave found their

sweetest moments and spiritual sustenance

in the repeated invocation of:الله اال اله ال

Not deities, only One God

Page 19: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Saying of Prophet Muhammad (p):“The best thing I and the prophets before me

have said is: There is no deity but God.”

Page 20: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Saying of Prophet Muhammad (p):“Everything has its key, and the key to Paradise

is the witnessing that there is no deity but God.”

One small mirror,like a flower, a fruit, a moment

through Divine Unity,is transformed to a Large Mirror,

showing the Divine Beauty

Page 22: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Without divine beauty, each mirror, fruit, flower, would remain on its own, and would show

no/limited sacred beauty.

Page 23: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Let’s get deeper…

Page 24: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

and reflect within ourselves…

Page 25: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Narrated by Abu Huraira, the Prophet (p) said:

“God created Adam in His own image.”

Page 26: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Through Divine Unity,a Divine immaterial Presence,

a Divine “Person”,a concentration of Divine Attributes,

can be seen/felt/experienced..within ourselves

Page 27: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Divine attributes ofLife,

Knowledge,Hearing,Seeing,

Will,Power,Speech

Page 28: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

ButIf not seen with Divine Unity

The Divine Unity will be only theoretically thought about…It will hidden…

Page 29: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

I am not the Source of these

I: Have life

Have knowledgeSee

HearHave Will

Have PowerSpeak

ICannotcreate,Sustain,

these

Page 30: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

I have lifeI am not the source of life

I am in need of life that I haveI have life because the Living is reflected on me

Now..Every moment..

Page 31: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Through my life, I can witness the immaterial All-Living that is reflected on me..

Page 32: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

The more I give what I don’t own to its owner..(The more I recognize my reality)

The more I give my life’s source to its real source,

The more I can witness the immaterial All-Living on “my” mirror…

Page 33: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

I seeI am not the source of my seeing

I am in need to seeI see because the One has give me the ability to

see, and has created/seen what I seeNow..

Every moment..

Page 34: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Through my seeing, I can witness (see with my heart and taste with my

spirit) the immaterial One who Sees

that is reflected on “me”..

Page 35: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

The more I give what I don’t own to its owner..The more I give my attributes’ source to its real

source,The more I can witness the immaterial One on

“my” mirror…

Page 36: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

I can witness (see with my heart and taste with my spirit)

the immaterial Presence of the Divinewithin…

Page 37: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

I: Have life, because the Living reflects on me

Have knowledge, because the One who Knows reflects on me

See, because the One who sees reflects on meHear, because the One who hears reflects on me

Have will, because the One who wills reflects on meHave power, because the Powerful reflects on meSpeak, because the One who Speaks reflect on me

Page 38: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

Narrated by Abu Huraira, the Prophet (p) said: “God created Adam in His own image.”

Page 39: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

The prophet (p) said that God said, “My heaven cannot contain Me,

neither can My earth. But the heart of My believing servant contains

Me.”

Page 40: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

The prophet (p) said: "Whoever knows himself, he knows his Lord"

Page 41: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

The more I become transparent, through recognizing my

servanthood/dependence to my Source,The more I will witness His Presence within.

This Presence is much more direct and real than witnessing in the horizons.

Page 42: Divine Unity ( Ahadiyya )

But if I become opaque, through claiming my independence,

then I will face darkness within…

Following the prophets: The path of servanthoodThe path of transparency
