Greetings!
Hello Division 38! It’s almost time for late nights, sleeping until the afternoon, water balloon fights, days by the pool, no school, no homework…SUMMER! I know in all the excitement of vacation and summer fun it is easy to forget anything school related, including Key Club. However, the summer is a great opportunity to do some Key Clubbing! You have tons of extra time that you could(hidden word: sunshine) dedicate to helping those in your community and those in need. You can have a field day, have a lemonade stand to raise money, or hold a cancer walk. There are so many fun, fulfilling projects that are perfect for sunny, warm weather! This month’s newsletter is full of ideas you can use to keep both you and your club involved in Key Club throughout the summer! Also, don’t forget that Seattle Rally is this August on the 13th! It would be great to have each and every one of you there representing the GREAT DIVISION 38! I know it seems like it is a long ways away but please try your best to make it to this event; you won’t regret it! Anyways, I hope you all have a great last couple weeks of school and remember that if there is anything you need, anything at all, whether it’s a shoulder to cry on, some advice, or just someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime! Key Dates!
Where: Tumwater Historical Park (777 Simmons Lane SW, Tumwater, WA 98501)
It’s a picnic! I need one person to bring drinks and another to bring
snacks (chips, fruit, etc.)! The rest of you should bring a few dollars to help
pay for the pizzas!

This mini DCON is a great time to meet Key Clubbers from all over the Seattle Area! It is also an opportunity to receive officer training, take part in workshops, learn ways to improve your home club, make new friends, meet new people, and have fun!

Theme: Fun, Sun, and Service!
What is Key Leader?
Key Leader is a weekend retreat where the main focus is on service leadership. Participants take part in workshops, discussions, and team-building activities to learn leadership skills that will allow them to help make a change in their community!

Capital High School! Congratulations to CHS for their second Star Award in a row! You
guys are on a roll! This month, CHS won the Star
Award for their hard work in the Kiwanis Garden, great
communication between their members and myself, dedication
to their club, and DCM attendance! Good job Capital!

Club Spotl ights!
OlympIa High School OHS is doing an amazing job in their Relay for Life team! So far they have raised $1,830 and
have received another $1,025 in donations!
River Ridge High School River Ridge has been
helping Lacey Parks and Recreation with their
booth at the St. Martin’s Pavilion gym! They also helped pass out flyers in
the Lacey Grand Parade!
WAVA WAVA may be an online
school, but they are getting involved! They supported children’s cancer by doing a
fundraiser through Alex’s Lemonade Stand!
Timberl ine High School Timberline participated in the Hershey’s Track Meet
this month, which is one of Key Club International’s
sponsors!

District Projects and Sponsors!
The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program is our district’s official supported project! This program raises money to help fund
cancer research and supports the Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program in Portland OR., Kiwanis
Children’s Cancer Program in Seattle WA. and the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in British Columbia and the
Yukon. Through this, we can help raise awareness of cancer and fight to find a cure!
Hershey’s Track and Field Games is Key Club’s new sponsor for this year! It is the largest youth sports program
in the United States and Canada! It’s an event that teaches kids that real victory is beating yourself, not
others; the real victory is doing what they thought wasn’t possible and having fun! You can volunteer at an event or
even host one in your community!

Fundraising and Service Ideas
Community Garden! Plant and tend to a
community garden! Then donate all the grown food
to a local food bank!
Park Clean-Up! Help keep your local parks looking great by getting a group of Key Clubbers to help pick up trash or plant new flowers at a nearby
park!
Cancer Walk! Show your support for
cancer by hosting a cancer walk at your school or forming a team for an
already existing cancer walk like Relay for Life!

More Fundraising and Service…
Car Wash! Host a car wash to raise money to donate to a cause of your choice!
Field Day! Hold a field day like Hersey’s Track and Field Games at a local school or park to help
kids stay active over the summer and to teach them
teamwork skills!
Kid’s Camp! Volunteer at a camp for
kids! It is a great opportunity to work with
kids in arts and crafts and to help kids be active during the summer!
