Welcome to Main Street Players and the beginning of our 10th Anniversary Season. It has been quite a journey to this point. When we first opened this little theatre in 2001, shortly after the tragedy of 9/11 we had no idea if we would even make it through the first show. But we had a dream…we followed it and here we are.

However, this is a bittersweet time for Main Street Players and for me personally. Just a few weeks ago we lost a very special person to the theatre and to me. Shad Leach joined our team as our set designer and production designer almost four years ago. A few weeks ago he died suddenly at the young age of 57. Not only was he an amazing artist, but he was a kind and gentle human being. He lived simply…but he was larger than life. He surrounded himself with the things he loved to see and touch. He told me once, “I can wake up in the morning and see sunrise through the tree tops and see the sunset over the lake in the evening”. He loved life and indeed lived it on his terms. He was loved by many and indeed will be missed.

He had quite an amazing career, working in the film business as an art director, production designer and set designer. He worked on over 16 movies, thousands ofbroadcast commercials and numerous television and corporate sets. Over the past fewyears, he and his partner Randy Duncan were involved with his long time friend ChuckWhited in building production facilities for Mega Churches throughout the country.

When I first met Shad, I asked him why he was willing to work on our productions…his answer, “ I believe in following a dream.”

During the last ten years we lost two other great talents, Charles Walker and DanStrickland, who were part of the beginning of our dream. Their spirit lives on inthis theatre as does Shad’s.

He and I began this show together and in a way we are finishing it together with the help of his long time friend, Randy. We worked on many shows together and we shared our personal lives together. In the time we had we built awonderful life. We shared a special moment in time thatwas truly a gift.

We dedicate our 10th Anniversary Season toJay (Shad) Shadwick Leach.
