STEP 1: CELEBRATEYou’ve taken the first step—committed to starting your health and wellness journey with us and taken a tour of our facility.

STEP 2: LEARNYour second step as a YMCA member is to signup for your FREE fitness orientation, which is available at the Dixon, Sauk and Sterling-Rock Falls YMCAs.

STEP 3: IDENTIFYLook over the program guide and fitness schedules to see all that we offer. Ask about programs for you and your family.

STEP 4: DISCOVERIn Sterling and Dixon visit the Wee Care/Babysitting rooms for information on child care for your young children while you workout. If your children are older, have them sign up for their required youth fitness certification so they may use the fitness area.

STEP 5: PREPAREBring your own lock to secure your valuables in the locker rooms. Rember to bring in clean, dry shoes and please note that jeans are not to be worn in the wellness center.

STEP 6: FAMILIARIZERead through your membership handbook to review the policies regarding your membership. Remember, we need notice prior to making any changes to your account.

KICKBOXING Fast paced cardio class for all fitness levels. This class uses a variety of

equipment to promote a full body workout. Get ready to squat, build,

and tone in this fun energizing class.

POWER PUMP Power Pump is a barbell workout that incorporates functional orthopedic

strength training. Every movement plane is attacked using weights and

body weight. Featuring safe motivating exercises, and great music to

create a thrilling group fitness atmosphere.

BALANCED BODYThis class includes cardio conditioning, strength work for toning and

balance for core followed by gentle stretching. A total body workout!

CORE CONDITIONING Core Conditioning is the ultimate way to get a tight and toned core,

honing in on your abs, glutes, back, obliques & “slings”, connecting

SILVERSNEAKERS® Designed for our senior population! Exercises help with strength,

LOW IMPACT AEROBICSTry a safe and heart-healthy aerobics class to energize your active

lifestyle using low-impact movements that focus specifically on building

upper-body and core strength plus cardio endurance.

POUND ROCKOUT WORKOUT POUND is a full-body cardio jam session with constant simulated

drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, and isometric movements

so you can drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique.

WERQ

WERQ is the wildly addictive cardio dance class based on the hottest

pop and hip hop music. The workout is nonstop with repetitive athletic

moves and fresh dance steps, so you get the best sweat.

GET FIT A great way to start your day – stretching, toning, cardio intermixed

together. We strive to work on all parts of the body each class. Steps,

weights, balls and bands used.

YNOT45 This class has it all; running, plyometrics, and strength training! Held in

the gym this class promotes taking 45 minutes out of your day to get in

a good solid workout.

Since 1928 boys and girls have been given the opportunity to create a very special community focused friendship, acceptance and independence at YMCA Camp Benson. While the world has changed greatly since then, one thing has remained constant - an overnight summer camp experience is an important part of a young person’s life. KIDS JUST WANNA REAGAN RUN Begins in May and look for school flyer handouts to be distributed after Spring Break. This program is designed to teach children of all abilities how to train to walk/run a 5K. All participants will be automatically registered for the Reagan Run 5K event in 2018. Volunteers are needed and encouraged to run with us.

COMPETITIVE TRAVEL SOCCER: DIXON SOCCER CLUB (AGES U8-U15) Looking to take your team to the next level? Consider joining the Dixon Soccer Club! Dixon Soccer Club is part of the ILLOWA Youth Soccer League. In ILLOWA Leagues, teams are managed by a volunteer parent/coach who is willing manage the team, attend informational meetings and follow ILLOWA League policies. Players are chosen or recruited by the volunteer coach and must have a way of transportation to games. COED BIDDY BASKETBALL (4 YEARS-2ND GRADE) If your young athlete is new to sports, then this is the league for you! This developmental league will give young boys and girls their first experience with league play! This is a chance for youth to develop basketball IQ, socialize, make friends and have fun! Teams are COED and are divided by age. Volunteer coaches and sponsors needed. NEW JR. NBA BASKETBALL (Ages 4-6th Grade)Youth basketball is an exciting sport combined team lay and individual skills. YMCA youth basketball promises no try-outs, no getting cut and no bench warmers! The YMCA sports program helps kids become not only better players, but better people as well. It’s a progressive program with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement.

The Jr. NBA basketball league is a great program for girls and boys. The program is designed to enhance the youth basketball experience for kids of all skill levels. The JR. NBA aims to develop a lifelong passion for the game of basketball by teaching boys and girls the fundamentals of the sport while instilling core values including teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.

Lesson plans from the Jr. NBA program will be available to all coaches to help in getting the kids learn to their full potential.

Boys and girls will be together in the Pre-K/K level and split if enough players in older levels. The levels will be PK/K ; Rookie (1st/2nd, Starters 3rd/4th grade, All Stars: 5th/6th grade. Volunteer coaches are needed; meeting will be held on Jan. 25th at 7pm. Practices will be the week of Jan. 29th and games will be held on Saturday beginning Feb. 3rd. Register by Jan. 21st

All levels are Co-Ed. Volunteer coaches are needed meeting will be held on March 29th at 7pm. Practice begins the week of April 2nd. Games begin on April7th. 5TH ANNUAL YOUTH MARCH MADNESS 3 ON 3 TOURNAMENT (Grades 3rd-8th) Let’s have our own March Madness basketball tournament. Groups will be (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th. 1st/ 2nd will be co-ed, the rest will be girls and boys teams unless not enough girls teams. Each team will be guaranteed at least 2 games. Games will be played to 10 or 20 minutes whichever comes first. Teams will be made up of 4 players. Registration deadline is March 17th. Date: March 25, begins at 9am Fee: $80 per team

TEEN NIGHT (Grades 5th-8th): Party at the Y. Hang out with you friends, enjoy some outdoor activities and learn some valuable lessons. Teen Night at the Y provides a safe sace for teens to socialize, get support and take part in some fun and educational activities. Date: Thursday, January 18 Time: 7:00-8:30pm Cost: $2 a person (includes a snack and drink)

A parent accompanies their child in the water and works with the instructor on basic skills and water safety taught through fun songs and games. PIKE (Ages 3-5) Beginner level Instructors will help children adjust to the water and develop independent swim movement. Classes include introduction to basic swim strokes, kicking skills, floating and pool safety. This class will wear the bubble belts at all times. Date: Tues. 3:45- 4:30 pm

EEL (Ages 3-5) Preschool Intermediate For children who are comfortable in the water and able to swim five feet with faces in the water and no floatation device. GYM AND SWIM: (Ages 3-5) This class is intended to teach basic tumbling skills, build strength, flexibility and coordination with 30 minutes in the gym. Instructor will escort participants to the pool for a 45 minute swim lessons. Bring children to the gym dressed in swimsuit under t-shirt and bring a towel. HOME SCHOOL GYM/SWIM: (Ages 5-10) This is a great opportunity to meet PE credits required by the state. Begins with 30 minutes in the gym learning the fundamentals of different sports, and learning about fitness, followed by a 45 minute swim lesson. Date: Thurs. 2:05-2:35pm (gym) & 2:45- 3:30pm (pool) Fee: Members $55, Program Participants $80

PRIVATE LESSONS A lesson designed specifically for you. Great for triathletes or swim team participants looking to increase speed, those fearful of the water or adults who are unable to swim independently. It’s never too late to learn a skill you can use for a lifetime. Interested individuals should fill out the required form at the front desk and an aquatic staff member will contact you to schedule 4, half hour lessons. Fee: Members $65, Program Participants $100

and for all ages and abilities. The levels have changed and some of

the emphasizes has been added for personal safety. Swim placement

WATER 5 & 6 *Formerly Flying Fish/Shark At these two levels refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, and learn sidestroke and review all other safety skills that have been taught. Conditioning is a big part of these two levels. It is also to encourage swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle. Thurs. 7:00-7:30pm

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS (Ages3-Adult) Four 1/2 hour one-on-one swim lesson with a certified swim instructor. This is ideal foranyone who is fearful of the water, or if your child learns better in this type of environment.

TEEN/ADULT SWIM LESSONS (Ages 12 and up) It is never too late to learn to swim. Learn to swim or would love to improve all their swimming skills. Tues: 7:00- 7:30 pm

HOME SCHOOL SWIM LESSONS Meeting the state PE requirement while your children learn to swim or to improve their strokes. Thurs: 2:00-2:30pm

In this class the pace is slower and the movements are designed to take various body muscles through their full range of motion. LET’S MAKE WAVES A challenging and fun 60 minute non-stop well rounded advanced workout in the water with instructor Judith Breslin Days: Mon, Wed, Fri 9:00 – 10:00 am Fee: Free for members

H2O HI/LO AEROBICS Using natural resistance of the water allows for an effective cardio workout that can strengthen, tone your muscles and increase flexibility with instructor Leanne Schumacher. Class is mostly in deep water. Days: Mon, Wed 6:00 - 7:00 pm Fee: Free for members

*Minimum size for all water wellness classes is 4 participants.

Swim for Fitness Get the new year off to a great start. We will swim from Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA to Camp Benson and back to the YMCA. Lap is down and back that is 50 yards. 72 lengths or 36 laps is a mile. Will be swimming total of 60 miles. So come and join in on the fun After you swim just let the lifeguard know how far that you swam and it will be put on a card. We will display the mileage weekly on the bulletin by the family locker room doors. Dates: Starts January 8-April 6, 2018 Fee: Free for members
