Exterior Painting

“ Painting your home’s exterior is a great way to add value to your home and you can do it yourself.

1.- Do some cleaning

✘ Before getting started with the actual painting, you will need to clean the exteriors.

✘ Power washing the walls is a quick and effective way to remove dirt and grime that can get between your walls and the fresh coats of paint.

2.- Small repairs.

✘ Replace nails that are popping out and scrape away any paint that has begun to peel.

✘ After scraping away the paint, sand down to area to make sure it’s smooth and ready for a new coat.

3.- Choose your paint

✘ There are different types of outdoor paints for different surfaces.

✘ Do some research and ask questions before deciding which is best for your home.

4.- Collect your tools

✘ Make sure you have at least two brushes for smaller areas and a heavy duty paint roller for larger areas.

✘ You will also need a tall ladder to get the out of reach areas.

5.- Cover and protect

✘ Take some time to cover areas you don’t wish to get paint on. This includes trim, windows, doors, light fixtures, etc.

✘ You can use painters tape to cover small areas or plastic for larger areas.

6.- Be thorough

✘ Once you are satisfied with your work on the walls, focus on the details.

✘ Think about giving your front door an updated paint job as well.
