Using FHRS Smart operators benefit
• FHRS targets customers
“Back of house is now front of house” (Director, major UK Plc)
• FHRS provides independent comparative data for the first time
“It is the wedge with which I drive all standards forward” (MD, regional pub chain)

NSF Integrating FHRS
• 70 auditors fully FHRS trained
− competency checked and shadow audited
− chosen for combination of experience and qualification
• Some clients have switched to FHRS as primary means of rating performance – applied same technique to HSW risk
• Developing short video / smart phone / ipad briefings for management in bite-size ‘lunchtime learning’
• Expanding enforcement liaison service to include appeals etc

Integrating FHRS
• Looking at ways to ‘mash’ FHRS data with other information:
− Map against sales performance and area managers
− Correlate with other related data – eg pest control
− Identify Local Authority variances
− Comparative league tables with competition

Summary
• As predicted, FHRS is now a national reality
• Industry leaders benefiting from investment to date
• Expect greater public interest due to ease of data access
• Statutory posting of results on the way (in Wales likely to be a legal requirement)
• Public and private sector audits merging – both content and approach
• Data shows NSF clients get better ratings
