1 DLF.TV PUBLICIST STATUS: Part-time consultant (Up to 28 hours per week) LOCATION: Remotely – coordinating with staff based in Fairfield, Iowa and Washington DC REPORTS TO: Sam Lieb, Creative Director APPROVED BY: Sam Lieb, Creative Director GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY The David Lynch Foundation (“DLF”), the country’s leading philanthropic organization promoting programs that reduce stress in at-risk populations through the widespread adoption of Transcendental Meditation, is seeking an experienced and dynamic public relations professional to spearhead the distribution of its inspiring video messages to the public. The candidate will work closely with DLF.TV senior management and staff, including the Senior Creative Director and Director of Media Production, to develop digital strategies for maximizing video reach and targeting key demographics, including in the areas of health, military and veterans affairs, education, homeless support, arts and entertainment and many others. The ideal candidate will be high-energy, eloquent, in possession of superb people skills, skilled in public relations and digital strategies, and passionate about the Foundation’s mission of transforming lives. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES In this position, the candidate will be primarily responsible for: Researching and forming relationships with potential high-profile collaborators, including bloggers, vloggers, like-minded social media personalities and non-profit organizations who would share our content Developing a social media and public relations campaign for each video, including: o Coordinating with DLF.TV and DLF marketing team to develop campaign messaging o Developing press releases and sample posts and tweets for campaign

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES In this position, the candidate will be primarily responsible for:

•   Researching and forming relationships with potential high-profile collaborators, including bloggers, vloggers, like-minded social media personalities and non-profit organizations who would share our content

•   Developing a social media and public relations campaign for each video, including: o   Coordinating with DLF.TV and DLF marketing team to develop campaign

messaging o   Developing press releases and sample posts and tweets for campaign

o   Contacting media outlets and bloggers and vloggers to promote video

•   Fielding any media inquiries related to video content

•   Coordinating with David Lynch Foundation marketing personnel to promote video content on Foundation social channels and sync promotions with upcoming fundraising campaigns

•   Advising DLF.TV team on appropriate mix/structure of video products to maximize reach across channels

REQUIREMENTS Candidates are required to have:

•   At least 3 years of related industry experience

•   Sales and/or public relations experience

•   In-depth understanding of digital media

•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•   Required education: Bachelors degree or higher Critical attributes include:

•   Strategic Thinking – Properly evaluates potential business and technology opportunities

•   Communication and collaboration – Communicates regularly and effectively with the video production team

•   Strong teamwork

•   Relationship-building skills

•   Deal and negotiation experience

ABOUT THE DAVID LYNCH FOUNDATION The David Lynch Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 2005 to raise funds and provide grants for the implementation of scientifically proven stress-reducing modalities, including Transcendental Meditation, for such at-risk populations as:

•   Underserved inner-city students in schools

•   Veterans with PTS and their families

•   Women and families who have been victims of domestic violence

•   Homeless adults and youth participating in reentry programs striving to overcome addictions

•   Incarcerated juveniles and adults Research and Support

The David Lynch Foundation funds university and medical school research to assess the effects of the program on academic performance, ADHD and other learning disorders,

anxiety, depression, substance abuse, cardiovascular disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, and diabetes. The effectiveness of the Foundation’s programs have been researched at leading medical schools, including Harvard Medical School, Stanford Medical School, and Yale Medical School; and have received the endorsement of and support from private foundations and government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, General Motors Foundation, the Chrysler Foundation, the Kellogg Foundation, the American Indian Education Association, Indian Health Services, many school districts, and state departments of corrections.

MORE ABOUT THE POSITION This is a part-time consultant position – up to 28 hours per week depending upon current project demands. The candidate can work remotely.
