Industry News DMIC hubs to boost Maharashtra's industrial output by Mohit Khandelwala on August 10th 2010 and filled under Other NEW DELHI: The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project plans to add Rs 20,000-billion over the next three decades to Maharashtra industrial output. The project would also create 23-lakh industrial/manufacturing additional jobs over the same period. Maharashtra, the third largest area wise share of the DMIC project has put in place an enabling policy framework with an aim to strategically capture the spill over growth from Mumbai into other areas that fall under this 1500 km long, 300 km wide belt. The DMIC projects districts in Maharashtra have been divided into two key Economic Influence Zones, viz., Nashik-Sinnar-Igatpuri Investment Region (NSIIR) and the Dighi Port Industrial Area. There are various industrial and mega industrial park projects being implemented under each of the two zones. MIDC is acquiring 70,000 hectares of land to accommodate these DMIC initiatives. Steps are also being put in place to ensure water allocations and superior road and rail connections to and from every DMIC hub. Page 1
