AMADNS Network Requirements

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

• NORTEL PROVIDED: The Ethernet port on the 3T98 Processor ofthe DMS-10, Ethernet Switch (or Hub) and Remote Access Server

• CUSTOMER PROVIDED: Any and all Billing center upgradesneeded for AMADNS and networking. If dedicated link required:Router with connection to the billing center for recordprocessing.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

• Routers needed for connection to Data Communication Network

AMADNS Facts• Compliant to GR-1343 AMADNS issue 2, Sept.96

– AMADNS files are variable length files.– Each AMADNS file has a 28 Byte header followed by the records– There is no segmentation, no padding and no header or trailer records– The information provided in the header and trailer records is provided in the 28

byte header– File name follows the AMADNS naming convention

• Faster transfer speeds means lower overhead costs - i.e. toll charges

• Standard FTP is used to transfer the binary files

• DMS-10 AMADNS is an option which is feature bit controlled ($)

• Eliminates need for Tape Drives, BMCs and Billing Media Frame, and LCC

• Compatible with current Cluster configuration

• Only one AMA record format is supported: BellCore AMA Format (BAF)

• Existing Billing System (Tape, BMC, AMATPS) and AMADNS can run concurrently– Allows AMADNS to be tested and integrated prior to full switch over

Transferring Files from DMS-10 to Collector

Scheduled The DMS-10 pushes the Billing files from the system disk tothe collector via standard FTP. The user configures TheDMS-10 with all the necessary destination information andschedules how often the files are sent to the collector.

Inbound FTP The user can FTP into the DMS-10 and retrieve the files.

Manual Requests The user can log into the DMS-10 via a RAS and issuecommands to request file(s) to be transferred to thecollector.

Communications Delivery

• Call content interfaces – Voice of the call

- CCC circuits can either be analog or clear channel digital trunks (DS0 channel off a DS1 facility)

- Call content will be exported using:

- Separated content delivery (requirestwo CCC circuits): one circuit carries thesubject’s transmit content, other circuitcarries the associate’s or sum ofassociates’ transmit content

Call data interface – Data about the call- Call Data Channels (CDCs) are exported to LEAs using the TCP/IP

“connectionless” protocol suite available with 501 Generic and new CPU

Transparency

• CALEA provides full transparency:

- Communications interception is transparent to both the subjectand associate

- All of the subject’s services (features) work normally

- Requires no changes to switch translations and routing

- No indication of surveillance in subject’s service profile

- No indication of delivery facilities’ association with asurveillance

- Surveillance information only available to authorized personnel

• DMS-10 CALEA supports :

- max. number of provisioned surveillances per-switch: 180*

- max. number of simultaneously monitored calls per-switch: 30

- max. number of Call Content Resources (CCRs) per-switch: 90

- max. number of CCRs per-surveillance (case id): 90

- max. number of surveillances on a common subject : 5

* If a DN is monitored by more than one LEA, each counts as a separatesurveillance

Circuit-SwitchedIntercept Access Points

• Call identifying informationis provided on the CDC by aCall Identifying InterceptAccess Point (IDIAP).- reports on call-identifying events

for circuit-mode calls (e.g., origination, termination attempt,redirection).

• Call content is accessed bythe Circuit IAP (CIAP)- replicates subject communications

available at the network.

Data Communications Networks

• Support the transition to client/server basedOS’s

• Support higher bandwidth applications (e.g.,Downloading of software releases, AMADNSover network)

• Reduce the number of OS backbone networks(X.25, Datakit, IP, OSI, etc.)

• Reduce the cost to configure, administer andmaintain OS networks

Service Provider Planning Goals

Data Communication Network Summary

• Allows applications to communicate over a robust IP network.

• Better performance in downloads, patching, machine to machinecommunications.

• Implements security using firewall and proxy technologies.

• Multiple solutions available for different configurations

• Provides redundancy and load balancing when dynamic routingprotocols are implemented.

• Existing OS networks can be integrated into solution.
