Unpacking IPA2800 Cabinets Summary of changes

Summary of changesChanges between document issues are cumulative. Therefore, the latest document
issue contains all changes made to previous issues.
Changes in issue 3-0
The old delivery model, where equipment cabinets and plug-in units are delivered in
separate containers, is now optional, and is again included in this document.
Changes in issue 2-0
The delivery model was changed. Equipment cabinets are now delivered with plug-in
units installed. Because of this, plywood supports have been added, and the unpacking
process has been modified.
Equipment cabinets and cabling cabinets are delivered separately, so the information
on equipment and cabling cabinets delivered in the same container has been removed
from this document.
Changes in issue 1-0 (DN70400137)
Instructions on lifting and moving cabinets were clarified. The cabinets are heavy. Addi-
tional personnel or lifting equipment may be needed when moving, unpacking or lining
up the cabinets. Cabinets must not be lifted from the subrack edges. It is also not per-
mitted to step on or push the subrack edges down, because they will bend.
Document structure has been reorganised.
The DN number identification for this document has changed from DN0186515 to
DN70400137, and therefore issue numbering starts over from issue 1-0.
Changes in issue 3-0 (DN0186515)
The dimensions and weights of the packages for the new cabinets EC216 and EC213
have been added, and the figures have been updated to correspond with the new cab-
inets' packages.
Changes in issue 2-0 (DN0186515)
Dimensions and weights of the packages for deliveries containing cabling cabinets have
been added.
Changes in issue 1-1 (DN0186515)
Corrections in graphics; no content update.

1 Unpacking IPA2800 Cabinets
1.1 Dimensions and weights of the containersThe IPA2800 cabinets are delivered in cardboard containers on a wooden pallet. There
are two types of containers: one suitable for an equipment cabinet (EC216), and one
suitable for a cabling cabinet (EC213).
Equipment cabinets
Equipment cabinets are delivered either pre-equipped with plug-in units and intracabinet
cables already installed or, optionally, without pre-equipped plug-in units. If the equip-
ment cabinet is not pre-equipped, the plug-in units are delivered in a separate container
and installed on the site.
Optional side plates and accessory materials are packed in the same container with the
equipment cabinet. The weight of the container depends on whether the cabinet is pre-equipped or not, and on the plug-in units, cables, side plates and accessory materials
included in the delivery.
Cabling cabinets
If you have ordered optional cabling cabinets, they are delivered in separate containers.
Container types and dimensions
Up to four containers can be piled on top of each other. The maximum height of a
delivery is 400 cm.
1.2 Before starting to unpack
Before starting to unpack the cabinets from their transportation containers:
• Make sure that the unpacking area is empty.
• Fetch the tools needed for unpacking (knife or side cutters, and a TX25 key).
1.3 Unpacking the equipment cabinet
Removing the cardboard container
• Remove the packing list attached to the case.
Container type Dimensions (H x W x L) Weight
EC216 (pre-equipped) 100.5 x 81 x 237 cm 330-430 kg
EC216 (without plug-in
units)
100.5 x 81 x 237 cm 280-310 kg
EC213 55 x 81 x 237 cm approx. 90 kg

1.4 Lifting and moving the cabinet
The cabinets are heavy. Additional personnel or lifting equipment may be needed when
moving, unpacking or lining up the cabinets. At least three people are needed when a
pre-equipped cabinet is lifted up without lifting equipment. Follow any applicable local
regulations when lifting and moving the cabinet.

Lifting the cabinet using lifting eyes
f
Lifting eyes are intended to be used during unpacking. Excessive lateral stress on the
lifting eyes may cause them to break. Make sure that the lifting belts are properly
attached. Stand clear of the cabinet while it is being lifted.
Figure 9 Four lifting eyes are included in the delivery. When using the lifting eyes,
lifting belts must be correctly attached through all four lifting eyes. The
angle between the belt and the top of the cabinet must be at least 60degrees.
Carrying the cabinet in a horizontal position
To install the lifting eyes, remove two cabinet feet from the corners on the cabling side
of the cabinet, and replace them with two lifting eyes. Also attach two lifting eyes to the
opposite end of the cabinet. Attach the lifting belts through two lifting eyes.

1.5 Conversion factors
The following conversion factors should be used when installing IPA2800 and associ-
ated equipment:
g For the purposes of installation and construction, an allowance of 1/16th of an inch is
tolerated between the physical conditions found on any particular site and the Blueprint
drawings provided with the installation instructions. In addition, an allowance of 1/16th
of an inch will be permitted when converting directly from European measurement to the American standard feet and inches.
Metric American
1 kilogram (kg) = 2.2046 lb
1 meter (m) = 3.2808 ft
2.54 centimeters (cm) = 1 in
