Bertnell A. Malisa Richards studied computer science andstatistics at the University of Guyana and was an academiclecturer for 14 years. Her passions include instructional design, data science, and Internet governance.

She's been involved in ICANN since 2016, when she attendedthe first training course of the Entrepreneurship and InternetCentre (CEILAC) in Paraguay. In 2017, she was selected toattend ICANN58 as a Fellow. The meeting broadened her

horizons, and the interconnected relationship between the Internet Society (ISOC) and ICANN became clearto her. This motivated her to lead the formation of the ISOC Guyana Chapter - officially recognized in July2017 - working together with Lance Hinds, Guyana's representative on the Governmental AdvisoryCommittee (GAC).

She's a member of the Non-Commercial Users Constituency (NCUC) and participates in the CaribbeanWorking Group in the Latin American and Caribbean Islands Regional At-Large Organization (LACRALO).

His first experience as a Fellow was at theICANN58 Community Forum in Copenhagen in 2017. There, after studying ICANN for years at a distance, he finally fullyunderstood the acronyms, constituencies, stakeholder groups, and basically how everything works.

Since then he's become more involved in Internet governance events and issues around the U.S. He joinedDiploFoundation as an Assistant Rapporteur for the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) Digital Watch, and hasextended his network to literally span the globe. He is attending ICANN61 as a returning Fellow, withnovelty no longer a factor. He plans to better understand the At-Large and Generic Names SupportingOrganization (GNSO) communities and choose a path for his further involvement in ICANN.

As a NextGen Ambassador, she's excited to learn as much aspossible. She considers the Internet a global playground for theworld's citizens - where not all rules are stated. She thinks thatthe multistakeholder model of Internet governance is the best wayto ensure that everyone benefits. She is honored to share herICANN experience with the some of the world's greatest talentsand leaders.
