Canadian Andrew Wiggins, a 6-7 forward atHuntington Prep in West Virginia, is a favorite to make the World Team again in2013 after helping the international squadto a win in 2012 with 20 points, including aWorld Team-record six 3-point attempts.

“Enjoy it,” was NBA veteran Zach Randolph’sadvice. “It was a fun time, getting to play with all thebest players around the country and competingagainst all the foreign players. Just enjoy it and take itin for what it’s worth. Go out there and give your bestand play hard because the whole world will be watching.”

“It’s not just an all-star game,” emphasized Jrue Holiday of the 76ers, who played in the 2008 Nike HoopSummit and returned to scrimmage against the 2012 U.S.Olympic Team as a member of the USA Basketball SelectTeam. “Especially the Hoop Summit game, that was agood way to play against people outside of your culture,to interact with them on the court. Obviously, startingthere (within USA Basketball), then you might get to do itat another level, at the highest level. Playing on the(2012 USA) Select Team, playing against them, it was anawesome to experience.”

“It’s so important to go out there and get a win,” said2012 NBA Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving,. “I think theHoop Summit is a great experience for guys that are coming up and labeled as NBA Draft prospects, guys thatare going to be the next ones coming into our league orwho want to come into the league. But (they need to)know that in order to get a win, especially against thoseguys over there, they’ve been playing professionally fortwo or three years and they’re well ahead mentally andphysically, you have to just learn how to give a piece ofyourself for the betterment of the team, learn how tocontribute, whether you’re on the court or off the court.”

“Don’t take (the World Team) for granted,” said Dukefreshman Rasheed Sulaimon. “Last year I think a lotof guys took it for granted. I believe we were betterthan (the World) Team, but we lost. You never wantto be on the losing column, especially when you’re representing the United States. So, don’t take it forgranted. Respect your opponent and play as hard asyou can. Like I said, it’s not about any individual fame. It’s all about winning for the United States.”

“I really can’t explain what it feels like to look at itand then go back to the start of training camp in LasVegas and up to the last game. Guys sacrificed andwe were all in it for each other. That’s what thissymbolizes. It’s very important to me and it’s ablessing to have this. Hopefully I’ll get another one.”

- Kevin Durant (as told to Forbes Magazine)

Of the 10 starters for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game, eightwere USA Basketball Olympians.

“Words can’t explain what it feels like to have a USAring. Most guys don’t accomplish this in their lifetime. For me to do it at a young age with the guys on theteam was a great experience. It’s an honor to receivethis ring tonight. It’s beautiful. It’s definitely going tobe right next to my NCAA National Championship ring.”

- Anthony Davis (as told to Forbes Magazine)

Prior to starting at Duke, Blue Devil freshman Rasheed Sulaimon played on a pair of USA teams in 2012 – the USA Junior National Select Team that participated in the Nike HoopSummit and the USA U18 National Team that claimed gold at theFIBA Americas U18 Championship. Obviously, being coached by aHall of Famer and two-time U.S. Olympic Team head coach MikeKrzyzewski, helps bring out the best in players, from incomingfreshmen to perennial NBA All-Stars such as Kobe Bryant andJason Kidd, but Sulaimon also readily admits he learned a lot fromthe trio of USA U18 coaches.

“We had three great coaches – Billy Donovan of Florida, ShakaSmart of VCU and Mark Few of Gonzaga – three of the top

coaches right now in college basketball,” he said. “So, I was like a sponge and tried totake as much as I could from them.”

The USA’s top scorer and rebounder in the 2012 FIBA AmericasU18 Championship, Julius Randle (Prestonwood Christian Academy/McKinney, Texas) will be back in a USA jersey for the 2013Nike Hoop Summit. Unlike last summer, which saw Randle contribute14.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in five wins, the hoop summit is a one-game showdown.

"I think the game is an example of how rich basketball is in theUSA," Randle said. "It's the USA versus all of the top players fromevery other country. That speaks to how good basketball is in theUSA. And the game is played in an NBA arena in the (Portland) RoseGarden and they sell a lot of tickets. It's a big crowd, and that's always something that has stuck out about the game to me, too.”

Historically, USA U18 National Teams are comprised of risingcollege freshmen and high-school seniors. The gold-medal winnning2012 USA U18 team, however, featured one athlete who already had17 NCAA Division I games under his belt -- Jarnell Stokes. At USAtry outs, Stokes quickly impressed everyone in the gym, and he wasselected to the 12-member USA team.

“I was shocked how much in Brazil the Brazilians loved us,”Stokes recalled. “I felt like after the game, they stripped us of practically all our clothes. I can remember me and Shaq Goodwinwalking out with just shorts on when we left after the championshipgame. It was hard for us to say no to guys who cared that muchabout the USA. We take for granted the smallest things, like a USABasketball shirt, but to them it meant the world.”
