I think so. I really wanted to make a good first impression, so I made sure that I practised each question before the interview.

Well I was asked about myself, my greatest weakness and my greatest strength.

Yes, there was another question. I am glad I practised it. They asked me if I had any more questions. In the past I would have said “no”.

I asked about the management style and culture of the company.

I am so glad that I asked those questions, because we had a nice conversation afterward.

Why asking questions is a good idea

“Is this a new position?”

Good question! It shows interest in the job.

Case Study 2

“After I start, what would the first few weeks look like for me?”

Good question! It shows interest in the job.

Case Study 3

“I hear that you used to work for ABC Company. Why did you leave?”

Bad question. It is too personal.

Case Study 4

“How much time will I have off?”

Bad question. Don’t ask questions about when you will not be working.

Case Study 5

“What kind of advancement opportunities are there for someone in this position?”

Good question, it shows interest in the job.

“If I do get the job, how soon can I start?”

Good question, it shows interest in the job.

Case Study 7

“Where do people usually eat lunch?”

Bad question, Again, don’t ask questions about when you are not working.

“If I get the job, would I be able to take some early holidays?”

Bad question. This one needs no explanation!

“What kind of things would you expect of me, that would help me to advance?”

Good question, it shows an interest in the job.

“When did this company begin?”

Bad question. You can find this information by researching the company.
