take for instance renatos last versions with the 775 0 js 179226 27 28 29 the only
one that sold out was j179226 the rest with very low production numbers are still
available if you look at the back of j179229 it looks like only 15 were made i also
think sthurling and andriod are talking a bigger bite out of invicta your thoughts are

I think that Android, and SO a gaining market share for sure. I think that all watch
sales are down for sure. I think the more interesting question would be are shopnbc
watch sales down?

I've thought the same thing as well, you're definitely seeing less of the TTV watches
selling out.

The whole watch industry in general is facing tough times. In 2009, the members of
the Swiss federation had negative 22.3% in total sales. The Swatch group was only
down 5.5% in sales in comparison. It is going to get worse before it gets better as
there is always a global lag with some of these indicators. When the luxury market is
facing dismal numbers, everyone is going to take a hit.

I agree,I have noticed that sell-outs dont happen like they used to.There nice watches
being sold on snbc, but the prices need to be lower and value pays need to be at 5 or
6 not at 3.

TTV on watches are not doing as well because people are waiting for the

my son and all his friends (11th graders) do not even have watches or want them.
They all use cell phones to find out the time. I wonder if watches are on the way out
to replaced by the world of electronic devices

My sons a 3rd grader and he wears watches to school everyday and is a WG member,
Big Bubba. His friends are ALWAYS asking him about his watches and think he's rich!
I Wish! LOL! There are adults who feel the same way about using cell phones to tell
time. Watches are for people who dont just wanna tell time! They wont be on their
way out due to technology or electrical devices because to those of us who love
watches electronic devices cant replace a watch. I have the time on my cell, in my
car, and in my room I have the time on 4 different devices, still Im buying watches. I
dont buy them just to tell time.

I do not disagree with you. However I just see fewer and fewer kids with them. To me
that means that they will not learn to appreciate them. That worries me.

Unless we have been living under a rock for the last few years, everything is slowing
down, there are countries falling all around us and the unemployment rate is 10%
and still growing, not to mention we are still in a war and the oil is still spewing out by
the thousands of gallons everyday and thats just the tip of the iceberg. but yes i think
watch sales are slowing.

The youth of today do not need nor wear watches....cellphones are their time
machines.
People born from the turn of the century through the mid 80's are more apt to be
sporting a watch (more of a fashion statement than to tell time) JMHO.

I can only speak in generalities, and any specifics would relate ONLY to my own
personal shows...
The entire industry is down. Record lows actually... but at ShopNBC our watch sales
have grown every year for the last 6 years straight. We have already sold more so far
in 2010 than we did this time last year... we continue to grow.
That is as of my last shows, I have not seen any numbers over the last week because
I have not been in the office.
Speaking only about my personal hours... my shows have continued to grow as well.
It's harder to really track because we now do so many more watch hours than we
have ever done in the past, I think something like 40% more watch programming
now than we had a couple years ago.
The extra hours really began in February of 2009, my personal on-air work schedule
tripled... and stayed that way for about a year. It is still much greater than it used to
be. Also Tim is here, and all the other hours hosted by various hosts... we have a LOT
more now than ever before.
You don't waste airtime, it is extraordinarily expensive... you put your best
performing product on the most. Watches are still the number one category in the
company, as it has been for a solid 3 years, and always been in the top 2 for the last
6 years.
The company is of course working on really cool surprises for electronics, home
products and jewelry... so over time we will see a few less hours for watches as these
areas continue to grow and become more & more popular.

i think us watchgeeks buy enough watches for the rest of the world....and the
younger generation has no need for one with cellphones , ipods ,and mp3 players,,but
my sons have got into collecting so there might be hope for the rest of the world,,

There are a combination of factors. To look at it globally: the younger generation is
not inclined to use watches. They use their cell. This is also the generation that has
trouble telling time on an analog watch. Having said that, there is a small segment of
a certain age (20s-30s) that appreciates them for S-tatus. In other words, Rolex,
Panerai and Cartier. just for the name.
The economy is suffering here and those in the West are beginning to suffer. You
won't know the impact of that on the emerging markets. (Very important because
they have the growing disposable income and they are the outsourcers.)
To bring it down on a local level"
Watches are disposable income and people are pulling back in general. They are
either paying down debt, unable to procure anymore, or having learned their lesson,
will be making further discretionary purchases. Watches fall into that category. How
many more watches can a person buy? Even if you wanted to?
To bring it down to the micro-level: Shop is not being as generous with VPs as before
and when factoring in tax and shipping charges, no longer as attractive a source for
watches.

It just stands to reason, people don't collect mattresses or have 20 sheet sets like
watches. Once you buy one, you're kinda good to go for awhile.
Men who don't wear french cuffs have limited jewelry options: watches, writing
instruments and rings. Many guys won't even wear their wedding band, so rings could
be a problem to convince us to have multiple items. Personal writing instruments are
a symbol or power and prestige in many countries, but not so much in the U.S.
outside of business. That leaves watches as the one jewelry item that men can buy
multiple of and keep coming back for more.
Plus if the manly on air salesperson wears a pirate shirt and whips out his M1 to
demonstrate scratch resistance of the crystal..even better.

This is just one little observation. For awhile recently the word was that the economy was getting better, we were climbing out of the abyss the economy
had become. I think that was overly optimistic. I know many folks who are in a grim situation financially, and they have had to scale way back just to survive and keep their homes.
Luckily, my home is paid for, but my watch budget has dried up and I don't see that changing for quite some time.

I know many people that no longer wear wrist watches nor carry pocket watches
because of cell-phone clocks, computer clocks and automobile clocks. Most
everywhere you go or look now days there are accurate clocks to give you the time.

I hope sales continue upwards for Shop and they stay in business for a long time. I
am going to want something to complain about, might as well be shop.

Heard an interesting supposition a few days ago on a local news station. Only time
will tell if it comes true. The next generation (our children), will be the first generation
in our Nations history, that does NOT have a better standard of living than the
generation that immediately preceded it.

Lets put it this way Tim Temple was on a competing
channel selling watches and they have about stopped
their watch shows. Maybe it's Jim, maybe it's better
product, maybe both.

I was just pointing out that Tim is no slouch selling watches so ShopNBC is doing
something better than their competitors otherwise watch sales would be up on both
channels.

Have wondered the same thing for a while, but was reluctant to come right out and
say so. Not particularly a doom and gloom "glass half empty" kind of guy either. Still
believe we in the U.S. can turn it around and lead the way out of this mess.

The other watch show Tim Temple was on, IMO did not put as much effort in watches
as SNBC does. I mean they had watch shows TUE & Thur from 12.00AM till 2.00Am,
who is going to be able to watch it at those times, I did for awhile but when you get
up at 5.00AM it's is tough. I just think they were putting more effort in the Jewelry
than watches, Not the Hosts but the company as a whole, Just my opinion

The question is, Has SHOPNBC sold more units or more gross sales in dollars. The

As one who works in Medicine, I can just see the face of my Patient when I whip out
my cellphone to take the Heart Rate, Pulse and Respiration count...Give me a break,
there will always be a need...The sweet thing of owning so many great watches is
often the conversation that occurs about them...Keep up the Great Work (Invicta, SO,

I bought a pair of Russian Divers, one for me and one for #3 son. Number 3 son said
I only wear bracelet watches {and grabbed my Swiss Army watch} I also bought my
wife the baby Lupah with the heart crystals and extra straps. the FIRST thing my RN
wife asked is, did it have a sweep second hand {like I would ever buy her a watch
without the sweep second hand }
Gave #2 son a Venom which he does like, and will be working a job that he should
NOT be pulling his phone out to check time
Number 1 son is a professional photographer so he can use the phone, I am working
on him but so far....
