This workshop will discuss initial study results from the CES-21 Flexibility and Standards project.   This project uses the SERVM system-reliability planning and production cost model of California’s electric system to answer these questions: (1) how much capacity and flexibility is needed to meet a 1 day in 10 years Loss of Load Expectation reliability standard, (2) is there additional flexibility needed to meet state policy goals or lower costs, and (3) how should capacity and flexibility needs be translated into planning standards for procurement decision-making (e.g. to inform the LTPP proceeding).  These initial study results were developed using 2014 LTPP (R.13-12-010) standard planning assumptions.

The CES-21 Program is a public-private collaborative R&D effort between the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison Company, San Diego Gas & Electric Company, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  Please direct questions about this workshop to Patrick Young at [email protected].
