THE MASTER jabs his screwdriver into MOLLY’S throat.
THE MASTERSet course for Halalka Moon. Hyperion Calendar 2304 ZE, 4thequinox, summer solstice. I want mypink beaches, virgin pina coladas andsome anti-grav surfing for a change.
MOLLYYou're a Time Lord. Do it yourself.
The Master presses deeper. Molly winces.
THE MASTERI'm the Master. You're my slave. Knowyour place. Halalka. Now.
Immediately, THE GIRL charges out of hiding and kicks him inthe leg. The Master lands on his knees and drops hisscrewdriver. Molly SLAMS the lever.
EXT. SPACE.
THE TARDIS spirals out of control.
INT. THE TARDIS. CONTINUED.
The Tardis hurls everyone off-balance. The Master snags TheGirl's arm.
MASTERFool! What did you do?
MOLLYLet go of her!
Molly shoves him away. She punches a series of buttons.
MOLLY (cont'd)Hold on tight!
She crouches under the console, holding The Girl tight. Thefloor tilts. The Master slides across the room.
EXT. COUNTRYSIDE. DAY.
Lush, green, and overcast. THE TARDIS materializes from thesky and DROPS to the ground.
MOLLY and THE GIRL burst out of The Tardis. They freeze atthe sight of an armoured SONTARAN pointing his blaster atthem.
SONTARANHalt! Vile scum!
MOLLYPanics( )

The Sontaran FIRES.

The Sontaran FIRES. Molly and The Girl duck. The blaststrikes THE MASTER in the chest. He slams backwards onto theground. His bag is on him.
JENNY pulls back the Sontaran.

The Sontaran, STRAX, marches forward. Strax proudly plants afoot atop The Master's chest.
STRAXThis pest is unworthy of a gloriousdeath! I merely stunned him.
Jenny approaches Molly.

THE DOCTOR, in his modern clothes, lies on the grass. Hequickly bolts up, panting hard. VASTRA, in dark dress,perches on a boulder. She casually sips her tea with hergloved hand.

She hands him a cup of tea.

The Doctor snatches it, flabbergasted.

He reads the card. Written at the bottom corner are thewords “SAVE HER”.
DOCTORIt says six twenty. What happens atsix twenty?
VASTRAAsk yourself. You were the one whosent an RSVP without listing anoccasion.
THE DOCTORThat wasn't me. Yet!
He pulls his pocket watch.
DOCTORAlright. Six twenty. Twenty minutes,thirty three seconds to find out.Come on!
INT. THE TARDIS.
MOLLY is now donning trousers, her ICE AXE strapped to herbelt. JENNY and STRAX gawk at the console room.
MOLLYI know what you're thinking. It's--

Strax scoffs.
JENNYMuch smaller than the last time. Whathappened here? Looks like a mess.
MOLLYI don't think 'The Doctor' had thetime to keep things tidy.

Molly gapes at the controls in shock.

EXT. COUNTRYSIDE.
MOLLY, JENNY, and STRAX race out of The Tardis. There’s animprint on the ground where The Master once laid.
MOLLYHe took the key!
JENNYAnd The Girl!
They stare at the distant forest at the edge of the meadow.
STRAXWhy did you fail to communicate theenemy was a Time Lord? I should havehit him with maximum stun timesfifty!
MOLLYNever mind. We'll have to split up tocover more ground.
JENNYRight. Molly and I will take thehills. Strax, cover the forest. Nokilling, do you hear?
Strax raises his blaster.
STRAXWith pleasure.
They split away. The Tardis fades to INVISIBLE, revealingAbslom's DEVICE latched to its side, lights blinking.Waiting.

EXT. FOREST.
The MASTER dashes across a misty forest, hands tied behindhis back. The BAG is slung over him. He pants against atree, exhausted.
A rustle startles him. The Master whirls around, searchinghis surroundings.
THE MASTEROw!
THE GIRL whacks The Master with a stick.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
Roars( )Stop it!
She stops.
THE MASTER (cont'd)What are you trying to do?Bludgeoning an unarmed man?
The Girl sticks out her tongue.
THE MASTER (cont'd)What's the matter? Cat got yourtongue?
She pouts hopelessly.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Yeah, fantastic. Great Job! Keepworking on it. I don't want to hear--hey!
The Girl spits at him. She dodges before he spits back. TheGirl runs and hides behind a tree.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Alright, alright! I get it. I'msorry. I've changed my mind aboutyou.
Tugs his ropes( )Can you please untie me.
The Girl just gapes at him.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Fake grin( )

He notices the fear on her face and turns to the directionof her stare. Standing behind him is MICHAEL.
THE MASTER (cont'd)What are you so afraid of? It's justa kid.
The Girl frantically shakes her head: He’s FACELESS. Avertical SLIT opens across his face and FOG pours out of his‘mouth’.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Panics( )
Untie me. Untie me now!
EXT. TWO STONES VILLAGE - EAST END.
THE DOCTOR and VASTRA pass by a SIGNPOST of multiple arrows.
THE DOCTORThose coordinates you gave me. Mysonic must have overrode her VotexManipulator and brought us here. Howlong has The Fog been happening?
VASTRAFive days ago. Your Countess had ahead start.
THE DOCTORWhat about Jago and Litefoot? Anyword from your associates?
VASTRAI have not heard word from ScotlandYard.
THE DOCTORThen The Null hasn’t reached Londonyet.
VASTRAIt reached London?
THE DOCTORIt will. But at least we know whereit starts. Here.
They enter a gloomy VILLAGE, sparsely populated with smallgray cottages and a few VILLAGERS wandering about.

VASTRAThis was one of the villages that washit.
THE DOCTORI still see some people here.
VASTRANot very many. The Fog came when thechildren were outside.
THE DOCTORChildren?
VASTRAAll of them. Gone.
He looks around. There are DOLLS of all shapes and sizes. Onthe streets. On the benches. On a swing. In the schoolyard.Carried in the arms of a FARMER. Combed by a GRANDMOTHER.
He eyes a CHEERFUL MOTHER through a window, feeding a dollporridge.
CHEERFUL MOTHERSay "pleeeeeease"! If you don't eat,you could get hungry and catch acold!
There's a SCREAM. A BLACK CAT scampers past him, a doll inits mouth. A SHRIEKING MOTHER tearfully chases after it.
SHRIEKING MOTHERMy child, my child! Oh you terriblebeast! Give him back to me, give himback!
The Doctor and Vastra watches with astonishment.
VASTRADoctor, why are they doing that?
THE DOCTORVillage of the Dolls, I presume.
VASTRAIt took away their children. Theyshouldn’t even remember they existed.How is that possible?

EXT. FOREST.
THE MASTER and THE GIRL race as the FOG washes over theforest. FACELESS ORPHANS peek behind the trees.
THE DOCTOR (V.O.)There are some forces in the universethat are indestructible. Greater thanstars and the galaxies in the sky.
The Master shoves her to the ground.
THE MASTERGood luck, brat!
He disappears. The Girl gets up. The children reach for her.She bolts for a different direction.
EXT. VILLAGE - EAST END. CONTINUED.
THE DOCTORIt's the maternal instinct. Thetendency to love, To nurture. TheNull took away their memories andtheir children, but that instinctstill remains, still torturing them.
A beat( )And it’s not the children that aregone anymore. It's entiregenerations. Larry the Weatherman andSally the Scientist. Humans in thefuture that no longer exist.
VASTRAAll those disappearances arehappening because our mysteriousenemy is trapped here?
THE DOCTORThat’s what I’m afraid of. Everychild holds a future full ofpossibilities, a massive amount ofunspent temporal energy. She’sworking a way to harness that andfind a way to escape. We have to stopit.
EXT. VILLAGE - WEST END.
THE GIRL wanders, exhausted and scared. She eyes the DOLLSspread across town.

One by one, the VILLAGERS slowly drop their dolls and gapeat The Girl. The Girl nervously grins back at them.
And runs.
VILLAGERSIt’s you. No, wait. Come back! Mychild, my child! Come back! Mydarling!
MORE VILLAGERS chase her.
EXT. VILLAGE - EAST END. CONTINUED.
The Doctor stops Vastra.
THE DOCTORDo you hear that?
THE GIRL runs into The Doctor, clings to him.
VASTRALittle one! Are you alright?
The Girl frantically shakes her head. VASTRA sees theVILLAGERS charging at them.
THE DOCTORI suppose not.
VASTRADoctor, the locals.
THE DOCTORRight. Inside, now!
They rush into a CHAPEL.
INT. ABANDONED CHAPEL.
Dusty, dilapidated and neglected. The sparse furniture andand pews are all draped in linen. Pots, pails, and chalicesscatter across the room, collecting the leaks of a lastnight's rain.
The DOCTOR, VASTRA and THE GIRL bar the doors. They gasp forair.
THE DOCTORThis should hold them!

The doors BUDGE forward. The Doctor and Vastra slam againstit.
VASTRAYou think?
EXT. COUNTRYSIDE.
MOLLY and JENNY, treading the meadows.
MOLLYWait a moment. Both of your friendsare alien?
JENNYNo, no. Commander Strax is definitelyalien. But Madam Vastra’s a reptile;she's lived here before the dawn ofHumans. The whole world is full ofcreatures if you think about it.
MOLLYRight here? This whole world is fullof them?
JENNYWell there's the Sea Devils in theMariana Trench. The Ice Warriorshibernating in Antarctica.Grandmother Nessie is taking a dip inScotland.
MOLLYNessie?
JENNYEven our horse at home, Charlie, is aZygon. Just don't tell him that; wekeep feeding him carrots.
They reach a crest of a hill overlooking the village and theforest. A Fog is rolling in.
JENNY (cont'd)That's strange. That fog is movingagainst the wind.
MOLLYThat's not any fog. Come on!

EXT. CHAPEL.
The VILLAGERS slam the door in unison, begging.
VILLAGERSBehind the door( )
Give me back my child! My child! Comeback! Please!
INT. CHAPEL.
The wooden bolt is splitting, the hinges are pulling. THEDOCTOR and VASTRA press back as THE GIRL fearfully crouchesunder the altar. The Doctor sonics the door without effect.
VASTRAI wish the locals wouldn't be easilyoffended.
THE DOCTORYou'll get used to it in time. Holdon!
VASTRAI am holding on! This door isn’t!
One final SLAM and the bolt breaks. The voices quicklyvanish. The Doctor and Vastra are confused, breathless.
VASTRA (cont'd)They’re gone.
The Girl runs up to a partially boarded window and looksout.
EXT. CHAPEL. CONTINUED.
The villagers frantically race indoors as the FOG barrelsthrough the town and over the chapel.
INT. CHAPEL. CONTINUED.
The FOG quickly clouds the windows, dense as wool.
VASTRAIt’s here!
A multitude of HANDS SLAP against the windows. The Girljumps away.

THE DOCTORKeep away from the windows.
The three cluster to the center of the chapel. Vastra guardsThe Girl in her arms.
VASTRAWe're surrounded.
THE DOCTORI know, I know.
Wisps of fog slither through the crevices of the doors.
VASTRAWhat do we do?
THE DOCTORI don’t know.
VASTRAYou said 'you know'!
THE DOCTORI know that I know nothing.
VASTRAYou know lots of things!
THE DOCTORJust because I know a lot of thingsdoesn’t mean I know everything.
The hands press harder. CRACKS slowly split through theglass, the mist seeping in. The Doctor's breath frosts. Hishands are fading.
VASTRADoctor, your hands!
The sonic drops through his fingers. The mist slowly liftsthe linen from their furniture. The Doctor shakes his head,resigned.
THE DOCTORIt’s happening again.
VOICES (O.S.)Doctor, please. I’m begging you.Don’t do this! Don’t go...!
VASTRAWhat’s happening?

THE DOCTORThe Null. I’m sorry. It's muchstronger now.
VASTRAYou can fight it.
THE DOCTORHow? It ended the White Guard, theDelta Seven. It's taken over thistown. And now it's after me. All myfears. All my regrets. Ready for themto feast on.
A beat( )I’m five hundred years old. I can'tkeep running anymore. I can't dothis.
VASTRAYou cannot end this way. You have tofight!
THE DOCTORNo. You have to go.
He’s breathing harder, frozen in despair. The linen floatsthrough the air.
VASTRAYou must stay, you must exist. Clearthis nonsense from your mind. Doctor!
The Fog raises The Doctor in the air. Vastra tries to catchhis arm, but her fading hands swipe through.
VASTRA (cont'd)Oh no.
VOICES (O.S.)Doctor....come back... Doctor...please...!
The voices flood the chapel. The linens morph, HANDSreaching out...
The Girl watches helplessly, then hears the faint melancholytune of a VIOLIN. Her face brightens. She grabs a pot andspoon and starts BANGING.
A hand from a window vanishes. Vastra’s hands return.
VASTRAOf course!

Vastra grabs the sonic and activates it. EVERYTHING METALLICin the room RATTLES and VIBRATES.
VASTRA (cont'd)Stay with us, stay with us!
The BURR from the Sonic and the clang of metal INTENSIFIES.The cracks on the windows split in webs. All around thembodies stretch and form through the sheets, mouths gaping.
The linens dart for The Doctor.
VASTRA (cont'd)Shouts( )
DOCTOR!
A HUNDRED SCREAMS SHRIEK across the chapel. The WINDOWSSHATTER, raining glass. The sheets flutter lifelessly. TheDoctor hits the floor.
VASTRA (cont'd)Are you alright!
They help him to his feet. The Doctor looks at The Girl,awed.
THE DOCTORSound. How did you know to neutralizeit with sound?
THE COUNTESS (O.S)Sing-song( )
Doctor! Come out, come out!
VASTRANo. That can’t be.
The Doctor stands, serious.
FLASHBACK - EXT. A FOG BANK.
THE DOCTOR, kneeling on the grass. He sees The Countess'face: It’s LUCIE. Her eyes are scarred white, blinded.
INT. CHAPEL. CONTINUED.
VASTRAThat sounds like Lucie.
The Doctor solemnly walks to the door.

EXT. CHAPEL.
THE COUNTESS/LUCIE stands at the closed door. She isunmasked, a crimson blindfold across her eyes. She clutchesher chest, hurt, the strings of her ax frayed. She utters arasping laugh, a plume of mist spiraling under her breath.
THE COUNTESSBravo, Doctor! Bravo.
CLOSED CHAPEL DOOR.
ALTERNATING SHOTS between THE DOCTOR and THE COUNTESS/LUCIE.
THE DOCTORWhat do you want?
THE COUNTESSMolly O'Sullivan. I feel it. She'shere. Give her to me.
THE DOCTORWhat do you want? I'm not giving herup.
THE COUNTESSAre you going to have to make me pickapart everyone you love? You owe me.
THE DOCTORI don’t owe you anything.

EXT. CHAPEL. CONTINUED.
The Countess dissipates.
INT. CHAPEL. CONTINUED.
The Doctor stares at the door.
VASTRADoctor, that can't be her.
THE DOCTORIt's her.
VASTRAIt's not her. That woman, whoever sheis. That is not like her. She is notthe Lucie we know.
THE DOCTORIt has to be.
VASTRAThat fog. It deceives your mind. Itconjures the past, the dead. And it'sdevouring you. The Lucie you knewdied. You saw it yourself. She couldnot have survived.
THE DOCTORAnd what if she did? What if theDaleks got to her and turned her intothis? Turning my best friend into myworst enemy? I’m the man who battlesthe monsters. But this? Going againstmy own companion--!
He PUNCHES the door, furious.

VASTRAYou have to let it go, Doctor.
THE DOCTORI don’t let go of my friends.
The Doctor walks off, hand bleeding.
EXT. CHAPEL. LATER.
The mist subsides. MOLLY and JENNY race through the villageand spots the chapel wide open. THE GIRL runs into Mollywith a hug.
A solemn VASTRA stands at the doors.
MOLLYWhere's The Doctor?
VASTRAHe's on the roof.
MOLLYIs he alright? Is he safe?
Vastra solemnly hands the Molly the sonic.
MOLLY (cont'd)What happened to him?
VASTRASomeone by the name of Lucie Miller.
Molly and Jenny exchange puzzled looks.
VASTRA (cont'd)Miss O'Sullivan. Perhaps it is timeyou knew what secrets The Doctor didnot have the heart to tell you.
INT. CHAPEL. NIGHT.
VASTRA brews a kettle over a makeshift campfire as MOLLYsits on a pew, listening.
VASTRASince the beginning of existence,there were two powerful civilizationswho have endlessly sought controlover the Universe.

One was the Lords of Gallifrey, whoVASTRA (cont'd)
mastered time through knowledge,foresight, and manipulation. Theother was the Daleks of Skaro, whoconquered space through war,industry, and destruction. For eonsthese two empires expanded, thrived.But inevitably, the universe was notenough for the both of them. Knowingthe Daleks as their greatest threat,the Time Lords moved to destroy theirworld. Their plans for Dalekextinction almost succeeded, if itwas not for The Doctor.
MOLLYThe Doctor defended the Daleks? Fromhis own people?
VASTRA (V.O.)The Daleks have always been hisenemy. But genocide is not his trait.
FLASHBACK - INT. THE TARDIS.
THE DOCTOR in his maroon coat. We slowly CLOSE on him, hisback to us as he looks out The Tardis doors.
VASTRA (V.O.)He offered a non-violent solution butno one would listen to him. So hedefied the High Council and formed ateam of elite architects, The DeltaEight, to create the most powerfulforce-field in existence. One thatwould trap the Daleks inside theirplanet of Skaro and block the TimeLords from destroying them.
WE PAN over his shoulder, overlooking the corroding, hollowplanet of SKARO.
INT. CHAPEL. CONTINUED.
VASTRAIt was an impossible plan that tookmillennia to calculate, all in thecourse of a week.
MOLLYEight? He said The Delta Seven.

VASTRAIndeed. Seven Time Lords AND onehuman: The Doctor’s companion.
FLASHBACK - INT. DALEK CORRIDOR.
A corroded tunnel bathed in red, clad with a hundredpulsating tendrils wedged along its crevices.
VASTRA (V.O.)Lucie Miller...
LUCIE, in scarlet evening gown and combat boots, races downa corridor. The familiar bronze SEAL of Gallifrey is pinnedto her shoulder. She clutches a blinking device.
THE DALEKS block her path. Surprise on her face--until THEDOCTOR yanks her from a blast. They veer around a corner.
VASTRA (V.O.) (cont'd)...Who was crucial to the very end.
Joy on their faces as they continue running: the time oftheir lives. The Doctor dials his Vortex Manipulator andthey vanish.
FLASH CUT TO:
FLASHBACK - INT. THE TARDIS.
Sleek, spacious, and refined. THE DOCTOR and LUCIEmaterialize. He activates the controls as the text “FORCE-FIELD GENERATOR FAILURE” blinks on display.
VASTRA (V.O.) (cont'd)The plan was flawless. Until anenergy satellite blew a fuse andalerted the Daleks of their plan. AnyTime Lord re-entering Dalek orbitwould be vaporized.
The Doctor slips his manipulator on her wrist. Lucie draws anervous breath, nods in understanding.
VASTRATime was of the essence. Any moment,the High Armada of the Time Lordswould arrive to wipe them out. Luciewas the only one who could reenterSkaro Orbit undetected. Trusting TheDoctor with her life, she teleportedinto the satellite's core...

He kisses her head. She presses a button and disappears.
INT. CORE GENERATOR.
A narrow chamber bathed in light. LUCIE smashes hermanipulator to pieces and plucks out a fuse. She pushes itinto a frayed circuit panel.
VASTRA (V.O.)....and did what no Time Lord coulddo.
THE ENTIRE CHAMBER GLOWS TO LIFE, lights flashing wildly.Lucie panics. She runs to the air-locked door, tugs it,pounds it. Screams at the porthole.
VASTRA (V.O.) (cont'd)She activated the force-field. Butthe surge overwhelmed her.
A blinding EXPLOSION engulfs her.
EXT. SPACE - SKARO.
Brilliant waves of blue blossom from the orbiting SATELLITEover the entire planet. A transparent bubble forms. Thesatellite flickers ON.
THE DOCTOR painfully watches from THE TARDIS doorway. TheDELTA ENGINEERS celebrate behind him.

THE MASTER hurrying across the dark, still tied. He spots ajagged ROCK and saws his ropes against it.

Hands free, he pulls out the prism in his pocket.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Now, let’s see what you're reallymade of.
He peers through the glass. Tosses it between hands. Huffson it. Shakes it. Spits and bites it. Even strikes itagainst the rock. Nothing happens.
He buzzes his SCREWDRIVER at it. It sparks, scalding him.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Ouch!
The Master drops his screwdriver and freezes at the sound ofa high pitched WHINE. STRAX points his blaster at him.
THE MASTER (cont'd)Moans( )
You again?
STRAXHalt and prepare for stun, pest.
THE MASTERHey, wait!
Strax FIRES at The Master. The hooded COUNTESS blocks withher violaxe. She charges at Strax, deflecting more of hisblasts. The ax is struck off her hands. The blaster jams.The Countess quickly headbutts Strax, jerks him into anarmlock, and yanks the PINS from his grenade strap.
THE COUNTESSEnjoy the fires of Vesuvius, bakedpotato.
She slaps her Vortex Manipulator on Strax and he disappearsin a FLASH.

THE MASTER runs. The haze thickens.
THE MASTERI hate this planet. I hate thisplanet. I--
THE COUNTESS appears, striking him with an outstretched arm.He tumbles to the ground and drops the prism.

The Master seethes with pain. He sneaks a hand into his bag.

With a sweep of her hand, the fog YANKS him in midair. Ablinking GRENADE gently floats from his hand. The TARDIS KEYlifts from his shirt. The Countess jerks it from his neck.
THE COUNTESSYou've been with her, haven't you?
THE MASTERWhy do you care? Is it because you'redying?
She stops.
THE MASTER (cont'd)You think I can't tell? It's obviousyour powers are weakening.
The Countess sees the Prism glinting in the moonlight. Shepicks it up.

The bell ECHOES across the valley. VILLAGERS emerge fromtheir homes, walking in unison.
THE DOCTOR, MOLLY, VASTRA and THE GIRL and race outside.They watch the stream of people silently pass the chapel.

VASTRAThey're sleepwalking.
MOLLYAll of them? At the same time?
They walk to the outskirts of the town.

Molly pulls The Girl into the chapel.

THE COUNTESS, overlooking the VILLAGERS as they emerge fromthe town. She manipulates the PRISM in her hand.
EXT. A HILLSIDE.
VASTRA and THE DOCTOR, following THE VILLAGERS.
VASTRAJenny! Wake up! Listen to me.
The Doctor searches through each of them, looking for signs.Pats their cheeks. Makes funny faces.
THE DOCTORShe won't pay attention to you.They're hypnotized.
VASTRAHypnotized from what?
He twists his sonic, dialing through static. The grainysound of a VIOLIN (O.S.) clears though.
THE DOCTORInfrasonic wavelength. Only affectshumans.
VASTRAWe can block out the sound, likewe’ve done in the chapel.
The Doctor covers Jenny’s ears. Nothing happens.
THE DOCTORNo, not this time. This is an entirevillage infected with the same tuneinside their heads. Playing over andover and over, blocking their mindsfrom the outside world.

A wisp of FOG swirls through the broken windows. The Girlgrabs the broom and gasps at the SHEETS levitating off thefloor.
MOLLY (cont'd)When I was a Girl, me and me sisterplayed hide and seek. We’d build awall so strong, none of the boyscould get through. Not even in timefor supper!
The Girl drops the broom and runs to Molly.

Hands stretch through the linen, morphing into WRAITH-likebeings. Molly and The Girl gape at each other, then tosseseverything from the doors.

VASTRAWhere are they going?
THE DOCTORTowards the source of the frequency.Behind the hill.
VASTRADo they even know what's beyond thishill?
The Doctor and Vastra stop to hear the faint sound of WAVEScrashing. They look at each other, horrified.
SUPER ON THE ENTIRE HILL. The villagers are heading for theedge of a seaside CLIFF.
One by one, Vastra and The Doctor try to pull people back.They keep marching forward.

He flicks his sonic, twisting its base. Vastra is strugglingto pull Jenny away.

He switches through different soundbites until he aims arecording at the villagers: THE SONG OF THE DRAGONFIRE.
The song SYNCS with the tune of the violin, their harmoniesmelding into one. The villagers stop at the edge and drooptheir heads. The Doctor and Vastra heave a sigh of relief.
THE DOCTORSinusoidal subversion. Replaced thetune from their minds with anotherone. Love this penny-whistle!
He flips his sonic in the air and kisses it. VASTRA walks upto Jenny. She shakes her gently by the shoulders and liftsher chin.
VASTRAJenny. It's Madam Vastra. Open youreyes. Jenny?
Her head drops back to her chest.

Her head drops. More hands grab them. They fight them offbut the crowd overwhelms them.

They drag the two to the edge of the cliff.

A BOLT OF LIGHTNING splits across the sky. STRAX appears,raising a GUITAR AMP high above his head.

He hits a switch and THRASH DEATH METAL POUNDS THE AIR.Everyone hits the ground covering their ears.
THE DOCTORThat's it!
He sonics the amp. The speaker deafeningly SQUEALS. Then itbursts into FLAMES. Vastra yells but Strax roars withlaughter. He’s overdoing it.
Vastra slaps the flaming amp off Strax’s hands. It topplesover the cliff.
The Doctor and Strax look over the edge. It explodes with aBOOM. Strax pouts. The Doctor gives him an exhausted look.
STRAXSir. That was...

The people wake up, confused. Their eyes turn to normal.Vastra tends to Jenny.
JENNYOh, my head. What happened?
VASTRAYou were hypnotized, my dear.

They see the village from a distance, now swallowed by FOG.

Deep in FOG. Ice-ax in hand, MOLLY stops to catch herbreath.

Molly whirls around. The Girl is gone.
MOLLY (cont'd)Where? Where did you go?
EXT. VILLAGE.
THE GIRL wanders around, lost, nervous. She eyes THE DOLLSscattered around. Grinning. One of them turns its head.
A faint GIGGLE and a SHADOW sprints behind her. The Girlgulps, sees nothing. She scans the village as the laughterof children echoes (O.S.).
The Girl glimpses the dolls again, faces now BLANK. Shespots one behind a window with a FACELESS ORPHAN holding it.A SECOND ORPHAN hides behind a building. A THIRD ORPHAN sitson steps. They turn to The Girl.
Terrified, The Girl bolts into a field of CLOTHESLINES.
EXT. CLOTHESLINE MAZE.
THE GIRL hurries into A MAZE of wooden posts and hangingwhite linen. The voices fade and vanish.
Lost, she slows to the sound of FOOTSTEPS. She stops. Thefootsteps stop. She moves forward, the steps follow. TheGirl freezes at the sight of little FEET under the linen.The Girl slowly reaches the sheet with dread, and yanks itaway.
The feet are gone. The ORPHAN WITH THE DOLL appears behindher. Her doll has the face of a child. The child has theface of a doll.

The Girl gasps and runs.

MOLLY approaches the field of clotheslines.

The Girl hears Molly, runs towards her voice.

She steps on a DOLL face down on the ground. Molly bendsdown to pick it up.

The LAUGHTER (O.S.) grows. The Girl glimpses MOLLY outsidethe field. She tearfully runs, dodging the the orphans.

Molly slowly turns the doll over.

THE LAUGHTER IS DEAFENING. The Girl silently screams forMolly. She reaches the edge of the lines when a sheetswallows her.

Startled, Molly drops the doll and glances the clotheslines.The Girl is gone.
The doll lies, its face caked with mud.

The Doctor and Molly emerge from the maze and halt. Dozensof FACELESS drift lifelessly from the sky, all swathed inlinen.

The VOICES softly echo again, giggling.
The Doctor holds out the sonic and presses a button. ARECORDING of The Countess's violin plays, filling the airlike a solemn tune.

He cautiously moves forward, holding the sonic steady. Mollynervously eyes the faceless dangle above them, watching. Thehaze thickens.
The recording crackles. The light on the Sonic flickers andstops. They stop walking, surrounded by silence.
THE DOCTOR (cont'd)Well. I guess that's done it.
He's instantly yanked into the air. Molly snatches his arm.
MOLLYNo, stop it!
The Faceless swirl around them, pulling his essence away.
THE DOCTORMolly, let go.
MOLLYNo. Not like this, man!
THE DOCTORYou have to leave me. While there'sstill a chance.
MOLLYYou won’t make it!

Her boots slide across the dirt. She digs her heels deeper.

His hands fade. The Doctor slips from her grip. She quicklysnatches him by the hair.

A FAMILIAR ROAR warps and echoes. Grinding. Wheezing.Shrieking. The silhouette of THE TARDIS materializes,glowing windows and police box sign permeating through thethinning mist.
