Every space must reflect the spirit of the
future tenant. The project is finished
only when the first person steps in and

Preserving and innovating. Respecting the
nature and updating the style. The balance
between these two approaches is what
makes the difference.

Every element in a space should speak to
the whole. From the single object to the
biggest room, there is a connection to it all
that can bring the project to a new level.

Terre à Tuile House overlooks a historic square of Rome, the heart of a vibrant and multicultural neighborhood which is in the last years, having a renaissance among people in the world of architecture and art. The house, which includes part of the turret of an historic building, is composed of two levels and a mezzanine floor, from which one can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

The magnificent beams of the upper floor of this attic were the departing point of a project inspired by a classic style that mixes the feeling of an historic country house with a contemporary touch, given by the graphic wallpapers and the colorful palette.

The divisions between the entrance, long entrance corridor, and the living room/dining room have been replaced by open spaces and full height panels, removing doors and letting the original plaster and the mix between light and strong colors, to mark the transition between spaces.

A small Trastevere nest, where the design of site specific millwork and use of color, are the main aspects of the architectural research.Specific elements as the ceramic tiles, wallpapers, classic designer furniture and an extensive use of wood make the roman flat welcoming and spacious.

The idea behind the project was to keep the original layout by accentuating the connections between one space and the next, underlining the transition between levels, as a continuous movement inside the house. All of the rooms offer multiple points of view, towards the inside of the house and also to the city, through the large bay-windows.

An unexpected surprise transformed this classic renovation into a very special one. The old ceilings of this house, concealed for years the trusses that give the whole apartment its charac-teristic feature. The wood flows in every room, accompanied by different tones and shades, some very light as the slaked lime painting and others, with quite a fierce nature, as the rousseau wallpaper in the white chestnut bedroom.

The flat with a typical roman layout, the long corridor with living room and dining room split by an arch, was not what the tenants desired for their way of living.By adding full height divisions and removing the doors, the space opened up. The use of a leitmotif color, the Basalt blue, is all over the flat, contrasting the magnificent raw white light reflected by the original plaster left intentionally naked.

Intensive use of color and design pieces are what best describes this small apartment in the historic neighborhood of Trastevere. The classic layout has been respected but spaces have been rethought by adding more than a single function through made to measure millwork and furniture, combined with designer and unique pieces.

The first stage is essential for a successful project. Getting to know
the client’s needs, together with an attentive site survey are what will
guide the first part of our research stage.

The presentation and final review are what will take the project to
completion. The main goal is to find the perfect balance between real
possibilities, budget, expectations and risks that can be taken to make a
project absolutely unique.

We enjoy a collaborative design process in which the client’s needs are our
priority.
In all of our projects we apply our deep knowledge of materials, color, and
lighting, which we consider main aspects when an interior is meant to
become a unique space.
We thrive on the idea of becoming the link between clients, architecture
and design professionals, technicians and artisans.
The studio has built up an international team of collaborators with
different backgrounds that enrich continuously the diversity and
uniqueness of all of our projects.

The majority of the residential projects we have in our portfolio, are located in
Rome, which has helped increasing our deep knowledge of local architecture,
artisans and contractors. On the other hand, our international projects have
allowed us to enrich the esthetical approach we have when working in our home
town.

Artisanship and careful use of materials are a distinctive feature of our way of working.
Nothing is ever left to chance and a new project will always be an opportunity to go back to
the roots and to innovate at the same time.
