4: major objective of the National Network for Professional Deimlopmentin Vocational Special' Education is to disseminate© innovative personneldevelopment activities and resources that cans be used by a wide array ofprofessionals. In the spring of .1984, the National Network staff of theOffice for Career Development. for Special Populations- at the' University of ,Illinois, -mailed a Networking_ Needs Survey to all 50 states -and U.S. Ter,-ritdrie3.. The purpose of the survey was to identify problems, needs, andinterests related to _enhancing personnel development networking activitieswith the ultimate goal of expanding and improving -personnel development.,programs. ,-One section of the 'survey `asked respenclents to identify thekinds 'of networks or organizations that they havpaused and are currentlyusing. Tip infomktion that, was requested included: name, address, scopeOf network (state, regional, national) and the type of assistance or servicesthat they provide. The kinds of networks that were identified in thesurvey included:
