The genre of reality TV is a combination of fact, realism, and fiction for entertainment purposes.

This hybrid genre is constantly developing and changing.Initially, its key focus was to present everyday life as entertainment, but now most shows place participants in highly constructed situations that

are blatantly no accident or coincidence. Reality TV is now known for constructing these situations and heavily

editing shows for viewer entertainment.

This show is aired on ITV Be and each show centres around a group of friends who all live and party together in Essex. The producers of the show base it on the participants seemingly real life situations, but in the opening

credits of each episode, it is made obvious that some aspects have been set up for entertainment purposes, as stated directly by the voiceover and

script.

A variety of camera angles are used throughout an episode of TOWIE for dramatic effect and viewer entertainment.

Here is a long shot of a popular couple on the show arguing on the beach. The argument is obvious and typical in a show such as this, as it shows the

end of a real relationship on TV.

The show target a wide demographic, but particularly appeal to young girls.
