    This is a transport document, which represents themovement of goods by water. A Bill of Lading is a

    formal receipt given by a ship owner or theirauthorized agents stating that the goods mentioned

    therein (quantity, quality, description etc.) are shippedon a specified date and are deliverable to the personmentioned therein or to his order after payment of all

    dues of the shipping company.

    acknowledgement issued by the Railway Authority

    Combined Transport Document is also known asMultimodal Transport Document, and is used whengoods are transported using more than one mode oftransportation. In the case of multimodal transport

    document, the contract of carriage is meant for a

    combined transport from the place of shipping to theplace of delivery.

    Certificates of inspection are documents issued bygoverning bodies to confirm that something has been

    checked and found to comply with documentedspecifications. It is usually required with shipments ofperishable goods.

    may move by land water or air or a combination of one ormore of these modes. In international trade, such transportdocuments are more in number and it is very important to

    know the significance of each type of document and itsnomenclature, etc. One of the important aspects to be

    remembered with regard to any transport document is thatit must show the name of the carrier.
