DocuSign Fall 15 Release Notes This document provides information about the updates deployed to the DocuSign Production environment as part of the September 8, 2015 DocuSign Fall 15 Release.

Note: Some items listed in the Release Notes were implemented in previous monthly service packs. In those cases, the month the item was implemented is shown in the heading for that item. These Release Notes have been updated since the release was deployed to the DEMO environment with the addition of a note clarifying that the Payment Processing only applies to certain U.S. and Canadian accounts, additional Signing Group restrictions, information on using custom tabs in the REST API, and typographical corrections. Changes to the notes are shown by change bars on the left side of the page.

New Signing Experience Updates As part of the continuing improvements for the new signing experience, DocuSign has added the following changes. Unless noted in the description, these changes apply to the new signing experience only and not to DocuSign mobile applications.

OpenTrust Signing Support This change adds support for signing documents that require OpenTrust digital signatures in the new signing experience.

Note: Signing documents that require OpenTrust digital signatures is not available in the new signing experience for mobile web browsers.

In addition to this change for the new signing experience, the DocuSign iOS and Android apps will support signing documents that require OpenTrust digital signatures.

Add Attachments Updates This change improves the process and instructions for signers that need to provide attachments to complete the signing process, providing a simpler and clearer process.

When the signer reaches an attachment field, they are asked how they want to add an attachment. The signer selects the appropriate option and clicks CONTINUE.

Note: In cases where return by fax is disabled, only the upload option is available in the Attachments dialog box.

When Upload is selected, the Upload Attachment dialog is shown. The signer clicks UPLOAD A FILE to select and upload an attachment. After uploading any attachments, the signer clicks DONE to continue the signing process.

When Fax is selected, the Send Attachments by Fax dialog is shown. The signer is informed that the fax cover sheet will be provided after they finish signing the documents and clicks OK to continue.

After clicking FINISH, a second Send Attachment by Fax dialog box appears. The signer clicks GET COVER PAGE to download the fax cover page.

After the fax cover page is printed, the signer clicks DONE to close the signing process. The signer follows the instructions on the printed fax cover page to fax the requested documents to DocuSign.

Electronic Records and Signature Disclosure Link Update (August) DocuSign is updating the layout and text associated with the Electronic Records and Signature Disclosure link for signing. The new format provides better context for the signers to access the Electronic Records and Signatures Disclosure prior to agreeing to use electronic records and signatures. This change is fully compatible with existing custom signing resource files and will provide two new nodes for the new layout to allow text to be customized in the resource file.

Note: This change does not change the text of your Electronic Records and Signatures Disclosure.

Voided Document Email Update (August) This change updates the Voided Document Email Template by moving the Envelope ID information, which was added in the DocuSign Summer15 Release, from the message area to the shaded area below the message.

Payment Processing Updates (July) Note: Payment Processing is only available for use with certain PayPal account types in the United States and Canada.

This update adds the option for a signer to enter the name used for their payment method and changes the Payment Processing dialog boxes in the new signing experience.

The option for the signer to change their name only applies to the payment method, not to any signature fields, and could be used in cases where the name appearing on a signers credit card is different than the name used for signing in the document. For example, when signing the signer uses the name Ron Smith, but his credit card has the name Ronald Smith.

When the recipient receives the envelope with payment processing enabled and completes the all required tags, including signature and initial tags, they are prompted to pay.

Once signer clicks PAY NOW, the document is locked and the signer cannot make changes in the document unless they cancel out of the payment process to return to the document.

The total amount due, the signers name, and the payment methods that can be used are shown.

After the signer completes entering the payment information and the information is accepted, a message window stating that payment was authorized is shown. The signer clicks FINISH to complete the signing process.

Important: If you use a custom signing resource file with custom information for payment processing, you should review how the information is shown in DEMO since the DocuSign_PaymentCompleteClickHelp and DocuSign_NavCompletePayment lines are no longer used.

Document Markup Update (July) This update changes the text in the Markup Dialog. When the option is enabled, the Markup dialog is shown when Markup is selected in the OTHER ACTIONS menu.

Important: If you use a custom signing resource file with custom text for any of the Markup lines, you should review your information since the presentation order has changed and lines Markup_OptOneNumber, Markup_OptOne, Markup_OptTwoNumber, and Markup_OptTwo are no longer used.

Classic DocuSign Experience Updates Signing Groups There might be cases where you want to allow any member of a group to sign the documents in an envelope. Normally, you have to assign a specific recipient to a signature field. But in cases where you need send to a group of people, you might not know which person will actually sign the document. With Signing Groups, a group can be created in DocuSign and any member of that group can open an envelope and sign the documents in the envelope with their own signature, even though a signature field was not directly assigned to them. When the Signing Group option is used, group members that open and sign the envelope are tracked in the envelope history and certificate.
