Reading: This week’s reading story is Yeh-Shen. Please remember that because Friday is Arbor Day, we will be taking all of our Reading and Spelling Retests on THURSDAY! This means that your student has one less day to read their reading story and to study the vocabulary. Carnival Baskets- As we do every year each class sponsors a basket for the carnival. Second grade’s theme this year is READING FUN! Please see the paper in this Tuesday Folder that is from PTO that gives you more information about the carnival basket and what help we need from you for this! Thank you !!!Language- This week our skill is Possessive Nouns. This is a very hard concept for students to understand. A possessive noun shows ownership. For example: That is the cat’s ball of yarn. The cat owns the ball of yarn therefore it has an ‘s on cat. The tricky part of this is once we begin talking about putting an apostrophe on words students begin to think that every time they see a s on a word they put an apostrophe on the word. We started talking about this Monday and will continue to more and more throughout the week, any help at home too would be great!!! Thank you for all of your help!!!

Upcoming Events
As a reminder this Friday we are going to the Fowler Park for Arbor Day. Please remember to pack a sack lunch for your student. We are going to be outside the entire day, therefore PLEASE make sure that your student is dressed accordingly. It is usually VERY windy and lots of trees are around therefore even if it is sunny we are blocked by the trees. Please dress your student in more clothes rather than not enough!!!! Also please remember that we also have our Zoo Field Trip on Friday!!! I will not be able to remind your student to bring a sack lunch for Monday because obviously the day before is a weekend. PLEASE, PLEASE remember sack lunch FRIDAY & MONDAY!!!!!!!!
