Getting an Internship after

CollegeLife after college

Internships are no longer easy to get

According to the latest surveys, most young college graduates are underemployed and have job/internship roles that do not actually require a college degree.

The stereotype of being a barista at Starbucks or working at a Burger joint or pizzeria is actually based on some truth.

Employers no longer trust a college degree

With more and more people graduating from college around the world, just passing through the college gates does not necessarily translate into a job. As it did previously even a decade ago.

Now after passing through the college gates you will simply open the gates for new adventures and more rejections.

Even a few years ago a college degree was a surefire way to a job. The moment you come out of college with some sort of credentials employers know that you are capable and trustworthy to take on organizational responsibilities.

Currently a simple bachelor’s degree does not let employers know that one is ready for a job. With more people pursuing higher education a bachelor’s is merely considered as a door opener. This is why 50% of the youth are underemployed as per the Federal Reserve.

Overall things are doing better for college pass-outs in the job world

Than for those without one and in their 20s…

But underemployment remains to be a consistent problem

Concentrate on how you go to college

Now going to college is no longer about attending normal classes, even if you have bagged a seat at the elitist of institutions.

You can no longer sleep walk through classes and get any major that you like. If you do so, chances are you will not do very well in college.

How to go to college now?

You must concentrate on being job-ready from freshman year onwards.

Start lining up those courses and think about the most in-demand majors in the corporate world these days.

Get those acing assignments done on time. and plan your way into the offices of corporate giants.

But that’s not all

You must get those out of classroom experiences

Try and get into multiple internships

Internships = Experience = Jobs

Many youngsters in their 20s have a hard time finding their footing after college.

A survey conducted by experts shows that youngsters after college can be classified into 3 broad categories.

Some are fast runners and start right after they leave college.

Some are wandering souls who take awhile to find their footing in the job market and do not really know from the beginning what they want to do.

And then there are those who struggle for a long time, before they find a job.

Why this difference exists?Fast runners vs. strugglers, who

is doing it wrong

According to the survey, almost 79 percent of the fast runners have had at least one internship during their college days.

64% of them had paid internships and out of them 49% were employed at the same company with a fulltime position.

• But in stark contrast lies the strugglers. Of them only a meager 24 percent had internships during college.

• Out of them 27 percent had paid internships and of them only 25 percent got a fulltime position at the same company.

After high school students have four options:

1. To go to college2. To join the military

3. To get a sub-par job with low growth prospect4. Live in your parents basement and be a total failure

40,000 of college students drop-out every year

Why?This number shows that all the options

college students have today are not enough and are definitely failing.

Students should be allowed to have drop years, to figure out their goals and interests. There should be apprenticeship courses to learn trades or figure out the major that truly interests students.

That way the academic world could achieve a greater success rate by offering students with multiple pathways to success with the help of higher specialized education.

With such a system more people will be able to achieve the success and reach the opposite end of their career path with the right credentials and the right job.

So get the right kind of experience

To materialize your college dreams into reality
