• User Types: There are three types of users:

- DACM User: A DACM user is only in the DACM’s database. This user can only access the door by presenting a card, entering a PIN, or both when the control panel is disarmed. This user cannot arm or disarm the control panel. There are three possible types of DACM users:

o Card-only: This user type can only use a card to gain access or perform system functions from the proximity reader/keypad. Use the Add Card [1][#] option to create this user type.

o PIN-only: This user type can only use a PIN to gain access or perform system functions from the proximity reader/keypad. Use the Add PIN [1][1][#] option to create this user type.

o Card and PIN: This user type can use a card or a PIN to gain access or perform system functions from the proximity reader/keypad. Use the PC software to create this user type.

The DACM PC software refers to a DACM user as a cardholder.

- Control Panel User: A control panel user is stored in the control panel’s database and copied into the DACM’s database. This user can arm and disarm the control panel, and access the door by presenting a card or entering a PIN. The DACM PC software refers to a control panel user as a cardholder.

- DACM PC User: A DACM PC user is someone who uses the DACM PC software to maintain the DACM’s database. This user can add, change, and delete device records and user records, and make programming changes.

The DACM supports up to 2,000 users when the PC software is used to maintain the DACM’s database. The DACM supports up to 500 users when the PC software is not used to maintain the DACM’s database.

The total number of control panel users is limited by the number of users supported by the control panel. Refer to your control panel’s documentation for more information.

3.4 Configure a DACM in an Existing Control Panel

The following information explains how to configure the DACM if you are adding it to an existing control panel.

• Add a New DACM to an Area with a DACM Already Installed: If you add a DACM to an area in which a DACM is already installed, you must re-enter all cardholder information from the existing DACM into the new DACM. To do this, use either the control panel’s keypad (refer to Section 3.3.1 Add a Card to a Control Panel User on page 14), or the PC software (refer to Section 5.6 Configure Users on page 32).

• A User’s (Cardholder’s) Area Assignment Changes: If a user’s (cardholder’s) area assignment changes to include a new area that contains a DACM, this user must be added to all DACMs installed in the new area. To immediately update all DACMs in the new area, use the [#][5][6][4] sequence at the control panel’s keypad to update the user’s card to include the new area assignment. Refer to Section 3.3.1 Add a Card to a Control Panel User on page 14.

• Users (Cardholders) that Span Multiple Control Panels: If you have several control panels with DACMs and you want a user to use one card that is valid in all control panels, then this user’s information must be the same in each control panel. For example, User 5 must be the same User 5 with the same card information in each control panel. Refer to Figure 6 on page 16 for more details.

4. DACM Operation This section explains how to use the DACM to gain access to a door, arm or disarm the security system, and clear trouble and tamper conditions.

4.1 Grant Access

If you are a control panel user, any valid control panel PIN in the DACM’s area grants access to the door. Once you receive a card, only your card grants access to the door.

1. Present a valid card to the proximity reader/keypad, or enter your PIN.

Depending on the DACM’s configuration, you might be required to present a card and enter your PIN. If you are required to enter a PIN, the proximity reader/keypad’s green/red status LED flashes.

The proximity reader/keypad beeps once, the red LED turns green, and the DACM grants access to the door.

2. Open the door and walk through.

If the door is held open longer than the programmed time, a trouble condition occurs if the Local Door Held Open Alarm option is set. Use the PC software to set this option. Refer to Table 33 on page 45 for more information.

Page 17: Door Access Control Module - …resource.boschsecurity.us/documents/Operation_Guide_enUS...3.1 DACM Configuration from Proximity Reader/Keypad.....12 3.2 Erase the DACM.....14 3.3

4.2 Clear Trouble and Tamper Conditions

There are two types of conditions that can occur: door held open and a door forced open. Response options to these conditions can only be set using the PC software. Refer to Table 33 on page 45 to program either option.

• Door Held Open: This condition occurs when the door is held open longer than the programmed door open time.

• Door Forced Open: This condition occurs when the door is opened without using a card or device such as a Request-to-Exit (REX) device. For example, someone breaks the door lock to open the door.

DS7240V2/DS7220V2

If the DACM is part of the building’s security system, the DACM sends the condition to the control panel. The control panel’s keypad sounds and displays a trouble message for a door held open condition, and a tamper message for a door forced open condition. Both conditions must be cleared at the DACM and the control panel. The control panel also sends a report to the alarm receiving center (ARC).

To clear either condition:

1. After the door is closed, present a valid card (or enter a valid PIN) at the proximity reader/keypad to clear the condition at the DACM.

2. Press [System Reset] (or press [#][4][7]) on the control panel’s keypad) to clear the condition at the control panel. The control panel might ask you to enter a PIN.

Extended Enter the amount of time the door is open when a valid card configured for extended release is used (default is 10 sec.; valid range is 1 to 255 sec.). Refer to Section 5.6.8 Mode Settings Tab on page 36 for more information.

Request to Exit

Enter the amount of time the door is open when a Request to Exit (REX) input is used by using the arrows (default is 5 sec.; valid range is 1 to 255 sec.). When the sounder option is checked, the proximity reader/keypad located outside the door sounds twice to indicate that the door is open. This feature is useful when magnetic locks are used because their operation is silent.

- Start-up Mode Settings: Use these options to determine how the door operates after a total power failure occurs, including depletion of a backup battery. Refer to Table 32 for option descriptions.

Table 32: Start-up Mode Settings Options

Option Description High Security Mode

Click this option to allow only users with high security mode privileges to access the door.

Normal Mode Click this option to return the door to normal mode when power is restored. This is the default selection.

Door Unlocked

Click this option to permanently unlock the door. The door remains unlocked until a user with Set Latch privileges presents a valid card twice. You can also use the PC software to change this setting from the Main Screen. Refer to Section 5.4.4 Device Pane on page 23 for more information.

Last Known Mode

Click this option to return the door to its last status setting prior to power failure.

Door Contact Settings: A standard door contact (Normally Open), as used in security systems, can be connected to the DACM. You can then see the door status in real time when online with the DACM, and set additional options. Refer to Table 33 for option descriptions.

Table 33: Door Contact Settings Options

Option Description Door Contact Click this box to enable the door

contact. Enabling the door contact also enables the other door contact setting options.

Relay Reset Click this box to instantly de-activate the relay timer when the door is opened.

Door Forced Alarm

Click this box to sound an alarm when the door is opened without presenting a valid card or activating the REX input. The DACM sends the alarm to the control panel, and sounds the alarm at the proximity reader/keypad. Click Clear Alarm or present a valid card to reset the door forced alarm.

Sounder Uncheck this box to disable the proximity reader/keypad’s sounder. This option is useful if the proximity reader/keypad is located inside near an office.

Reader Off When Open

Click this box to disable the proximity reader/keypad if the door contact is open. This option does not disable the REX input.

Local Door Held Open Alarm

A timer starts when the door is opened. When the programmed time ends, the DACM sounds an alarm at the proximity reader/keypad that the door is held open. This option does not send an alarm report to the PC software (if online at time of alarm). Use this option with the Door Held Open Alarm option to warn people at the door to close it before a full alarm occurs (valid range: 0 to 255 sec.).

Door Held Open Alarm

This option waits an extra 10 seconds after the value entered for the Local Door Held Open Alarm option before sounding an alarm. This option sends an alarm report to the PC software (if online at time of alarm). For example, if the Local Door Held Open Alarm option is set for 8 sec, this option is automatically set for 18 sec. This option sends an alarm report 18 sec after the door is opened if it is held open. If the sounder option is checked, the proximity keypad/reader’s sounder sounds.

8. Troubleshooting This section contains basic troubleshooting information.

Table 54: DACM Operation Issues

Problem Cause Solution The door does not open when a card is presented or PIN is entered.

• The card or PIN is not in the DACM’s database.

• The user’s area assignment changed after the user was added to the DACM.

• Invalid PIN entry. • DACM is in high security mode.

• Add the user’s card and/or PIN to the DACM. • Delete the user, then re-enter into the DACM. If

the DACM is part of the security system, update the area assignment from the control panel’s keypad. Refer to Section 3.4 Configure a DACM in an Existing Control Panel on page 16.

• Re-enter PIN. If it fails again, verify that the PIN is correctly entered into the DACM.

• The user does not have high security mode privileges. Refer to Section 5.6.8 Mode Settings Tab on page 36 for more information.

A user’s PIN works at the DS7240V2/DS7220V2 control panel’s keypad, but not at the DACM’s proximity reader/keypad.

After assigning a card to a DS7240V2/DS7220V2 control panel user, the DACM only recognizes the control panel user’s card. The PIN is only recognized at the control panel.

From the DS7240V2/DS7220V2 control panel, create two users. Assign the card number to the first user (card-only), and assign the PIN to the second user (PIN-only). Do not assign the card number to the PIN-only user. Then assign both the card-only user and PIN-only user to the person who needs a card and a PIN. For example, “Joe” is a user who needs to arm and disarm the control panel, and unlock the door from the DACM’s proximity reader/keypad. In the control panel, program a user number, User 10, for Joe’s PIN. Program a second user number, User 11, for Joe’s card number. User 10 (PIN user) allows Joe to arm and disarm the control panel from the DACM’s proximity reader/keypad, and User 11 (card user) allows Joe to unlock the door.

Table 55: Software Operation Issues

Problem Cause Solution All of the users have the same name and PIN.

If a range of card numbers is added using the software’s Add Card Wizard, each user record has the same options that were selected for the first user record in the range.

Use the Main Settings (refer to page 33) and Mode Settings tabs (refer to page 36) to change the properties for each user record..

The CPU system usage indicator is always at or near 100%.

The PC’s processor is working too hard.

Upgrade the PC’s processor to improve system operation. It is normal operation for the CPU usage indicator to be at 100% during backups.

The Mem system usage indicator is always at or near 100%.

The PC does not have enough RAM to support all of the programs currently running, including the DACM PC software.

Close programs that are not being used, or add more RAM to the PC.

The HDD system usage indicator is always at or near 100%.

The PC does not have enough free space on its hard drive.

Remove programs and files that are rarely used to create more free space. This indicator should never be near 90%.

The database is very slow. Adding and deleting several records over time can slow the database’s performance.

Compact the database every three months or 500 user record changes. Refer to Section 5.8.7 DB Maint. (Database Maintenance) Tab on page 50 for more information.

The database is corrupted. Unknown. Restore the database by using a database backup file. Refer to Section 5.8.7 DB Maint. (Database Maintenance) Tab on page 50 for more information. User records, device records, or system changes made since the last backup are lost.

Exported reports do not look like the reports that appear on-screen.

Crystal Reports format (.rpt) was not selected as export format.

When a report is exported to a file format other than Crystal Reports format (.rpt), some or all of the report’s formatting might be lost. However, the program attempts to preserve as much of the formatting as the export format allows.
