PRESENTATION

The origin of the company dates back to 1958, when it began its activity under the management of two construction companies, Rajal and Martos. GEVORA was born out of the merger of these two companies in 1973, focusing its activity on the construction of civil works, on quarry exploitation and on manufacturing hot bituminous mixtures.

In 2003, GEVORA, led by a new management team, started to expand its field of action, both in terms of geographical scope and the development of its construction activity, by means of its resolute commitment to a business policy based both on the increase in the number and qualification of its human resources, and on the growth of its technical resources and the improvement of its technology.

As a result of this new sustained growth policy, it has acquired new companies:

•In 2003 it acquired assets of the company Río Rena S.L., which in 2005 became part of ASFALTOS LOS SANTOS, S.A., which manufactures aggregates and manufactures and on-site installation of asphalt mixtures.

•In 2005 it acquired CANTERA ANTONIO FRADE, S.L., which also manufactures aggregates and bituminous mixtures.

•In 2006 it incorporated the company ASFALTOS DE CÁCERES, S.L., which manufactures asphalt mixtures.

•And in 2010 it incorporated the company CIVILSUR, S.A.U., which engages in civil engineering works.

Currently, the fundamental pillars on which GEVORA’s strategic policy is based are the creation of value, customer satisfaction, the commitment to continuous improvement, respect for the environment, the commitment to sustainable development and innovation, the improvement of health and safety conditions, and the development of employees’ human and professional potential.

QUALITY

The quality and continuous improvement in all activities carried out by GEVORA represent a strategic pillar for satisfying the real and future needs of our customers, such that they enable us to continue being competitive. In the construction business, GEVORA has implemented a Quality Management System, in accordance with regulation UNE-EN ISO 9001, which is reviewed and subjected to an external audit every year. Furthermore, it is an active member of the quality groups and committees of the principal construction sector associations: AERCO (Spanish Association of Public Works Construction Companies), ASEFMA (Spanish Association of Asphalt Mixtures Manufacturers) and ANEFA (Spanish Association of Aggregate Manufacturers).

As regards the manufacturing of aggregates and bituminous mixtures:

•ASFALTOS LOS SANTOS, S.A. (Sierra del Castillo Quarry and Contreras Gravel Pit) has Production Control Systems for manufacturing aggregates and bituminous mixtures, which lets them market their products using the regulatory CE marking seal.

•CANTERA ANTONIO FRADE, S.L. has implemented a Quality Management System, compliant with standard UNE-EN ISO 9001, which also allows it to use the CE marking seal for aggregates and bituminous mixtures. Furthermore, it has the ADIF Quality Seal for selling Aggregates for Type I Ballast (V > 200 Km/h).

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Another of GEVORA’s strategic pillars is to guarantee the conservation of the environment in a sustainable fashion, through the sensible use of resources and the reduction of waste and emissions. As a consequence of this, as part of its activity as a construction company, it has implemented an Environmental Management System, in accordance with regulation UNE-EN ISO 14.001, which is reviewed and subjected to an external audit every year.

CANTERA ANTONIO FRADE, S.L. also has an Environmental Management System, certified as conforming to standard UNE-EN ISO 14,001.

R&D&i

GEVORA has made technological innovation a fundamental strategic pillar of its competitiveness. It is currently carrying out research, development and innovation projects with various universities and technology centres, concerning the reuse of marginal materials for public works and concerning the development of new asphalt products.

Furthermore, it is currently implementing an RDI Management System, in accordance with regulation UNE-EN ISO 166002, as a tool for organising and managing its RDI activities and projects.

It also maintains an active presence in the RDI working groups of the principal construction sector associations: AERCO (Spanish Association of Public Works Construction Companies) and ASEFMA (Spanish Association of Asphalt Mixtures Manufacturers).

HEALTH AND SAFETY

GEVORA maintains a firm commitment to preventing occupational hazards and as such, it has implemented a Health and Safety at Work System in the construction industry, in accordance with standard OHSAS 18001, which is aimed at improving working conditions in order to eliminate accidents and situations with high risk potential, also being a permanent member of the ANEFA Safety and Labour Relations Committee (Spanish Association of Aggregate Manufacturers).
