a younger brother walks slowly and follows behind his elders. if he hurried and stepped in front of them we would say that he was not a proper younger brother.
it would not be a matter of his being incapable of walking slowly, but of his failing to do so.
Isabelle Strachan, Mencius 6b:2
The master said, "when the multitude hates a person, you must examine them and judge for yourself. The same holds true for whom the mulitude
love."

When the famiily is calm as the night sky, and no quarrels are present, the world can be in unison
When the world is in sync, it will become a better place
These solid beliefs are what make the world a better place to live.
Alejandro galea Great learning prefactorory remarks
"a true gentleman makes demands upon himself but not on others."
- analects 15:20
A true gentleman...
Makes demands... Upon himself...
But not on others.
Nowadays, filial piety means to make sure that one's parents have enough to eat. But dogs and horses are also cared for to the same extent. If there is not feeling of respect, what is the difference?
I need to eat! So do I!
I love my parents and will make sure they are happy, as well as my pets.
The difference? the parents do so much and sacrifice so much to keep their children happy. For this, filial piety extends beyond just making sure they have enough to eat, it goes without saying that we would help them whenever we can.
Alejandro Galea Analects2:7
I examine myself daily on three things: have I always been loyal to their interests when acting on behalf of others? Have I always been true to my own word in dealing with friends? Have I forgot what was handed down to me from times before?
