Dear Friends, It’s hard to believe, but another year has come and gone. With this new year, we at Double Dollar decided to make some changes that we hope you are already aware of. With all of the activities going on at the South Point, we found it very hard to preview the horses sufficiently and there also wasn’t time to let people try them, like we did the first several years of our sale. With the change to Sam’s Town and Horseman’s Park we have two full days to preview horses with open practices each night after previews. These practices will enable buyers to try the horses and make sure they fit each other. This format will make it possible for everyone to really get to know each horse before the sale. This change also gives us the opportunity to have the sale on the same days each year so that everyone can make plans for next year way in advance. We will also have a booth at the South Point with a live feed to Sam’s Town and Horseman’s park where buyers can watch previews and even place bids so those involved in the World Series roping can still be a part of the sale. Horseman’s Park is only a block away from Sam’s Town and both are even closer to the Thomas and Mack and Cowboy Christmas than was the South Point. There will be a roping at Horseman’s Park each day from the first day of the NFR until the start of our previews. On Tuesday, we will be having a No. 12 roping open to everyone, which will have an incentive within it for anyone riding a horse that has or will this year go through the sale, or has a Double Dollar brand. There will be Gist Buckles and other prizes available only to those incentive ropers who win and place. There will also be an open handicap roping that morning before the Double Dollar roping and most of the sale horses will already be on site and participating in these ropings. The sale will be held in the convenience and comfort of Sam’s Town live auditorium on Friday. They have also extended a special room rate to the first 200 people who call and ask for the Double Dollar Block. We are very excited about these changes as they once again make it possible for us to take better care of you, our customers. 1. Persons planning to purchase horses in this sale for the first time should present letters of credit from their banks if personal checks are used in payment. Terms of sale are cash, check, visa or MasterCard

2. A 3% office processing fee will be added to all purchases. This fee will be discounted for purchases paid by cash or check, debit card, cashiers check, or travelers check.

3. Payment in full must be made to the cashier immediately after the sale. All payments shall be US currency. Method of pay-ment shall be cash, cashier’s check, debit card, traveler’s checks or approved bank check, visa, master card. Approved bank check which has been verified and approved in advance by cashier and or officer of Double Dollar Livestock. All payments must be made to Double Dollar Livestock. Any payment made by the buyer to the consignor or any other party will not be regarded as valid or entitle the buyer to delivery of the animal. All returned or insufficient fund checks will be immediately turned over to the district attorney and charges will be filed. No re-deposits: Anyone issuing us any insufficient fund check for a horse will run the risk of immediate prosecution. All past buyers who have passed a returned check to Double Dollar will be required to prepay for their purchases or pay in cash.

4. The sales management is not responsible for the integrity of a specific bid and the seller understands and assumes all re-sponsibility for any bid that is made and not thereafter honored. In the event any bid is not honored, the seller agrees not to hold the sales management responsible and agrees not to sue the Sales management therefore.

5. Effort has been made to insure correctness of this catalog and, in most cases, information quoted concerning the horses is taken from the official A.Q.H.A. records. However, employees and auctioneers will not assume responsibility for errors or omis-sions, but appreciate having them called to their attention.Announcements in the ring take precedence over printed information. 9. Auction wills both video and audio taped to keep accurate record of these announcements. Ring men and auctioneer will have the right to bid on behalf of the seller to a predetermined reserve amount, should there be one. If buyers have a desire to know if a horse failed to bring the reserve amount in order to speak with the consignor, check with the office after the sale.

10.All horses become the buyer’s responsibility as soon as sold. The buyer shall sign an acknowledgement of purchase, which will be brought to them. Horses may not leave the premises until settlement is made. It will be the responsibility of the buyer to transfer the horse registration into their name. The AQHA papers and transfer form will be sent by mail after funds have cleared or may be picked up in the sale office if paid for by cash.

width, good withers, a wide well-developed loin, deep heart, low hocks and tail head, standing on a stout straight bone with moderate sized feet. These horses needed to turn easily and efficiently; be running at full speed in 2 or 3 strides, stick their rear in the ground and stop right now. They needed to really watch a cow, rate a cow running through brush, over rocks, then stop and hold that cow once she was roped. They needed to enjoy their work, like people, be quiet around cattle but liven up to do their job the moment they were asked. The Old Foundation Quarter Horse bloodlines had a lot to offer. Some of the area ranches had high percentage Poco Bueno, Jesse James, Joe Hancock, Driftwood and Hollywood Gold bloodlines and I made a deal to break two colts for the pick of one filly for a lot of these ranches. We would use the fillies on the ranch and breed the ones with the total package. I acquired stallions with all the traits I was looking for and started my breeding program. I strive to produce horses that will make a man a living on the ranch or in the roping pen. Today we run 50 broodmares, starting all of the colts between 2 and 3 years of age. All of our colts are started on the ranch with a foundation in reining and roping, using the old traditions handed down from generations of horsemen. Tate did have some reining training before he went to the roping box and showed a tremendous amount of natural ability! workings of it. We have a weekly auction that sells 300 to 1800 head of cattle. I am also an auctioneer, a cow/calf producer, and do a little farming. My wife and I run 200 head of mother cows. We have a winter range near Mesa Verde where we calve and then we summer at over 8,000 feet. We rope and drag all our calves during branding and doctor everything on horseback. We are a family who loves to rope and who loves good horses. We buy two colts every few years, start them at the sale barn and on the ranch. When we have them broke enough to go to the arena we start roping. They will be used by myself, my wife, and my two girls. Having a good-minded athletic horse is a must. We rope everyday and we are either at a roping or barrel race every weekend. We depend on our horses for our fun, and we also depend on them to help with our livelihood. Making a solid, dependable horse is what we strive to do each time we bring a new colt home.

Both parents had been through our horse program, and we were very happy with their performance. 2. As a weanling we were pleased with their pedigree, conformation, and disposition. 3. As yearlings we continued to be happy with their pedigree, conformation, and disposition and were convinced they were easy keepers with no negative attributes. 4. They were all ridden during Jan., Feb., Mar. of their two year old year, once again we found no negative attributes. This is the point that a lot of prospect mares are culled at the ranch. 5. They have continued to breed back each year and have no dud colts. If they every have a dud colt, either conformation or disposition then we have a horse trader come get them.We don’t let mares stay in our band past eight years old. Each time we hold a new filly we have to cull a mare, as we want to stay at fifty mares. With this program we have no junk. Many of the mares we cull are simply because we now have colts coming up with more modern pedigrees which dosen’t necessary mean they are better. A good example is my favorite hauling horse, Hank. I feel he is one of the best horses we have ever raised. Hank is out of a mare that went through our sale three years ago. I have even tried with no luck to buy his mom back. This group of mares gives each of you a chance to buy into twenty years of a strict breeding program. These mares are all still young enough that they can be turned into top end riding and roping horses. Each of these mares are bred back and ridden all fall. They will bring great attributes to your breeding program, or fit right into your riding string.
