It is also suggests that the readers are aware of all the different artists out there as they only have the images to recognise them, this therefore demands prior knowledge. It is evident that the magazine aims to address the reader as a ‘member of an in crown’ as there is limited text about each artist. Most of the artists are “DJs” which suggests that the target audience are most likely middle aged people who enjoy to be entertained and socialising in party environments. It also makes it more personal as they readers have the face as well as the name. The main colours used are white, this attracts the reader as it helps to separate each artist and helps the page to look like it is less full as there is a lot of white space. Each artists is shown in a box which helps the page have structure and order. It also makes it easier to view as it is not clustered. Each image of the artists presents their different personalities and characteristics. The first 5 images portray the typical R&B/DJ artists through the use of props, this is significant as it is an R&B magazine. This double page spread does not include a title because this is a weekly feature of the magazine, thus the readers are aware of what the article is about and don’t need a title to recognise it. Due to the fact that the contents page of this magazine is unconventional and the information about the articles is minimal, this page does not have page numbers. This could also be due to the fact that it is in every issue and so the readers knows what page they will be able to find new releases. This double page spread follows the conventions of the front cover by having white as one of the main colours. Similar to the front cover the double page spread has a clear layout and minimal text. This can be seen through the cover lines on the front cover, they lack information and are structurally ordered on the right hand side.

Page 2: Double Page Spread Analysis

This double page spread has a clear layout by having the images on the top half of the page, and the text on the bottom. This layout follows the natural eye flow as the first thing the reader sees is the 2 images of Wiz Khalifa and the pull quote on the top, then the text on the bottom left hand side and finally another pull quote at the bottom right hand corner. This is affective in attracting viewers to read the article as they are enticed by the multiple images and pull quotes. The images of Wiz Khalifa suggests that the target audience are people who internalise the culture of R&B as the model is seen with a gold watch, tattoos, piercings and a bandana. Theses props are typical to be seen on an R&B artists.

The main colours used are white, black and blue. The use of the white background and the black text makes the text extremely visible which aids the reader to quickly pick out the most important text. The colour of the artists clothing matches the building on which he is leaning on, this keeps the colours scheme constants and restricts the amount of colours used.

The tone of this article is used to suggest that the reader is an intelligent fan, not only of the artist but also the magazine. The interviewer uses phrases such as “independent record model,” and “radio programming format” this shows that the reader is an intelligent music fan as they are able to understand musical terminology. The article also demands prior knowledge of the artists and his background as the interviewer questions him about his hometown “Pittsburg” and refers to the “Steel Curtains” (this was a nickname given to the front four players on the defence line on the ‘Pittsburg Steelers’ team) this also demands knowledge of the history of American sport. Wiz Khalifas tone is extremely informal and he used phrases such as “man this shit is crazy,” “really, really diehard, just individual” and “just a cool dude,” this use of colloquial language makes the article more personal as it reflects his true personality.

The Style of the article matches the style of the front cover by having all the images and information structured in an orderly fashion and not having everything clustered on the page. This simple layout makes it easier to read. In addition to this, the colour scheme is similar to the cover.
