Anthony Teasdale DPS I f you haven’t being living under a rock for the past three months, you’ll have heard that newcomer HEAVY Reloaded is working on his second E.P. After the delightfully heavy ‘Inception’ E.P. released in January this year, fans have being waiting for him to drop the bass for a second time. This time, however, he isn’t alone, bringing an even newer new comer along… Omegatonne! If you’ve heard his bass-breaking remix of Excisions’ ‘Execute’, you know he isn’t playing around! We were so excited for his new ‘Double Trouble’ collaboration E.P., we had to interview them and find out more! So, what got you into making this kind of music? HEAVY Reloaded: It started when I got sick of the same stuff on the radio. I knew I wanted something different to listen to, so when I first heard electronic music, I loved it, and ever since I wanted to create something like this and have my own little touch to it. Omegatonne: I always wanted to be a rock star as a kid. Of course, there are some weird noises you can’t make with a guitar. I just find it more interesting, and if something’s off with a noise, I can edit it instantly. How did you choose your names? Is there any meaning behind them? HEAVY Reloaded: I feel like really heavy music is slowly disappearing, so I am kinda like ‘reloading’ the heaviness in the music… And it sounds cool Omegatonne: I just came up with it one day. It just stuck. So, HEAVY Reloaded, second EP, how does it feel? HEAVY Reloaded: It hasn’t really sunk in yet. Give it a week and it’ll hit like a train. Omegatonne, first EP, how does it feel? O: Exciting. My first ever song is on here. I really hope it goes down well. Speaking of songs, tell us about them. Well unless it’s classified. H: Classified? It’s Double Trouble, not Area 51. The first song… Wait; does it count as a song if it has now lyrics? O: Well that’s what we’ve being calling them. H: Right, erm… Anyway, the first song thing is called ‘Level 2’, and sounds like an old-school retro video game. This was our first collab, so we decided to base our song on something we both love, video games. O: We couldn’t do one on pizza, so we did the next best thing. H: Pizzastep? Now there’s an idea. If you haven’t being living under a rock for the past three months, you’ll have heard that newcomer HEAVY Reloaded is working on his second E.P.

HEAVY Reloaded: I feel like really heavy music is slowly disappearing, so I am kinda like ‘reloading’ the heaviness in the music…

And it sounds cool

Omegatonne: I just came up with it one day.

[Laughs] So, erm, song two is another collab called ‘Axe Attack’, which is a darker, more driving tune with a ridiculously heavy drop. It is a more horror themed track, contrasting ‘Level 2’, which actually Omegatonnes’ idea.

O: Well, I really like horror movies, so making a horror track just made sense. Well, Anthony isn’t a fan, but it was fun making him watch them to find a good sample to use.

H: No it wasn’t.

O: You should see him, he was jumping at every sound, it was so funny. [Laughs]. There was this one bit when…

H: Weren’t we talking about the track?

O: Yeah, anyway, we settled on the ‘Here’s Johnny’ from The Shining, and we think it worked. The fans will love it!

H: The song also has vocals from the extremely talented Alex F. She was great to work with, and has came up with some interesting lyrics. After this, we have Omegatonnes’ solo track, ‘Omegas’ Alpha’.

O: This song is my favourite. [Laughs] It is your basic ‘Club Banger’ song, with an almost Big Room Drop, before suddenly becoming an absolute bass monster with growls and bass all over.

Does the song title mean anything?

O: Well it’s my first original, solo song, so it is like my first. Alpha is the beginning, so it’s like a play on words.

So, HEAVY, what about your solo track?

H: Well it’s called, ‘Ordered Chaos’. The name of the track is a way of looking at dubstep, as it seems chaotic, but it is actually very organised.

Excision has a t-rex, so what would your ‘mascots’ be?

H: Probably a robot with a big gun, y’know because the gun would be heavy and would need reloading.

O: A dragon that breathes dubstep.

Does that mean anything?

O: Dragons are cool, and I make dubstep.

So, when is Double Trouble releasing?

H: January the 6th next year!

O: Get on The Hype Train!

It’s being great talking to you.

O: Thanks.

H:Ditto.
