Hello and Welcome! Welcome to our autumn newsletter.

We like to reward our staff at Dovedale by nominating an employee of the month. Nomination Forms are in reception and anyone can nominate.

I would like to say a special thank you to Andrea Smith, she has worked at Dovedale for 15 years and received some flowers and vouchers as recognition for her long service award.

At Dovedale we are open for any suggestions. We have a suggestion box in reception. Please feel free to complete a card and place it in the box.

I would like to ask if any family members or friend of residents in the home are experiencing any flu like symptoms. You try to stay away from the home. This will safeguard our residents from contracting any unwanted illnesses during the autumn/winter months.

Employee of the Month Our employee of the month for September is one of our lovely nurse, Earleen Feidtkou. Earleen was awarded this for all her hard work, helping others, commitment and dedication to our home. Well done!

National Cupcake Week

We recently celebrated National Cupcake week here at Dovedale. Our residents got involved with baking the cakes for our afternoon tea trollies, although they enjoyed eating them much more. Delicious!

Tasteful Tessyman Suite

Our Tessyman Suite unit, upstairs, has just had a beautiful revamp. Brightening up the corridors and lounges, has created the feeling of a more spacious surrounding for our residents. Our lounge has new furniture and accessories making it cozy, comfortable and more homely.

Residents Trips Our residents have been enjoying quite a few trips out on our minibus whilst we have been lucky with some nice weather. We enjoyed a trip to our local pub for some lunch, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We will soon be enjoying a drive through the Blackpool Illuminations, visits to Knowsley Safari Park and also visiting a garden centre to have a nosey at their beautiful Christmas displays.

World Food Day You may or may not know, Tuesday 16th October is World Food Day. We are arranging a taster session for our residents with different foods from all over the world. There will be a little quiz to see who knows where the foods originate from too.

Birthday Celebrations

Throughout September, we celebrated 4 birthdays here at Dovedale, each of our birthday ladies and gents were treated to a lovely gift, card and birthday cake for all to enjoy. With plenty of music and singing from staff and residents. We also have 3 birthdays to celebrate throughout October.

We will be having a spook-tacular Halloween, with some gruesome and eye catching decorations set up. We will be enjoying some Halloween crafts, films and music within the home and indulging in some tasty treats.

The Barchester Care Awards & Barchester in Bloom

A great day for Team Barchy

The Barchester Care Awards, including the garden categories (Barchester in Bloom), is an annual event that showcases the very best that Barchester has to offer. The Care Awards celebrates the fantastic individuals who work and volunteer in Barchester care homes across the UK; and Barchester in Bloom recognises the beautiful outdoor spaces tended by residents and staff members. Our Divisional Winners have already been named, and the award ceremony will be held in Manchester on October 11th, when the National Winners will be announced. Good luck to all our Divisional Winners and thank you to everyone who took the time to make a nomination.

A huge congratulations to the Barchester staff members who completed the London 10k in scorching heat this summer. The atmosphere in Central London was fantastic, with Westminster shut down to traffic and transformed into a moving street party of thousands of people running, cheering and laughing. The runners were also extremely busy fundraising ahead of the big day, smashing their target and raising an absolutely fantastic £2,119 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, plus gift aid.
