Dear customer!The past year has been influenced by the pandemic and the limitations it has imposed on physical meetings between people. This presents the perfect opportunity to spend a little more time on your stamp collection, and if you are missing anything, I hope you can find it in our online store at posten.no/frimerkebutikken.

In 1921, the Dovre railway line was opened by King Haakon VII. It would become the most important connection between northern and southern Norway for passengers, freight and mail. Two beautiful stamps will be issued for the centennial, one with the steam locomotive “Dovregubben” at Hjerkinn Station and one with a train in front of the mountain Snøhetta in the Dovrefjell range. The stamps are beautifully illustrated by Trond Bredesen.

The theme of this year’s Europa stamps are endangered national wildlife. In Norway, the issue will feature the Atlantic puffin and the great yellow bumblebee. The stamps were designed by Camilla Kvien Jensen.

Truga dyreartarTemaet for årets Europafrimerke er truga dyreartar. Det norske bidraget til den felleseuropeiske frimerkeserien set fokuset på kløverhumla og lundefuglen.

Humlene spelar ei nøkkelrolle i økosystema, fordi dei bestøvar frukt og bær og spreier pollenkorna og gena til plantane i naturen. Talet på humler har dei siste åra gått sterkt tilbake, hovudsakleg på grunn av omleggingar i landbruket.

I 1990-åra var det rundt to millionar hekkande lundefuglpar i Noreg. Sidan den gong har næringsmangel ført til at bestanden gradvis har gått ned. Dei store mengdene sildeyngel har nærast forsvunne grunna overfiske, noko som har ført til ein nedgang i reproduksjonen og i talet på lundeungar som overlever.

Toget over DovreTogturen på 553 km fra Oslo via Lillehammer til Trondheim tar i dag i underkant av 7 timer, og går over det mektige Dovrefjell. I år fyller Dovrebanen 100 år, og dette markeres med to nye frimerker.

Det første frimerket viser damplokomotivet «Dovregubben» (NSB type 49) på Hjerkinn stasjon i Dovre kommune. «Dovregubben» var en norsk damplokomotivtype som ble konstruert for å kunne holde høyere hastighet i de sterke stigningene på Dovrebanen.

På det andre frimerket ser vi et tog foran Snøhetta på Dovrefjell etter at Dovrebanen ble elektrifisert i 1970. Toget trekkes av el-lok type 13, som var i bruk i Norge fra 1957 til 1998.
