Down at the Dump is a story about two familieswith different social status.

Whalley is from lower class family while Hogben

is from middle class family.

This story also portrayed the forbidden love

between Lummy Whalley and Meg Hogben due

to their different status.

One day, both families went to two different

places; Whalleys was off to Sarsaparilla dump

while Hogbens family went to a funeral.

At the funeral, Lummy met Meg and they fell in

love to each other.

Later, Mrs.Hogben found out about their

relationship when she saw her daughter were

kissing with Lummy.

Mrs.Hogben could not accept the relationship as

she afraid of the view of other people towards

their family.

Then, they went back to their respective home

However later, Meg and Lummy met again silently.

The story ended with a glimmer of hope, whetherthere is any promising relationship between the

two of them.
