Danielle Wagoner Chairman of the Board

“Hastings is a special place” is a phrase I hear myself using time and again (as hokey as it sounds) and not because it’s a memorized response but because I truly believe it. Hastings is a place for community - a feeling of belonging. Hastings offers a place to learn, a place to grow and a place to make progress. Being at the foundation of all of this are those who live, learn, and thrive here. At this foundation are those willing to donate their time, talents and treasurers to help others around them succeed and with no expectation of return or personal benefit. Isn’t that the true definition of a good leader?

Hastings is a place where change can begin and it starts with stand-up folks like those graduating from the 2015-16 Leadership Hastings class. I visualize our program as a springboard for graduates.

JENNIfER bONNELLLeft class due to a change in her job but will complete and graduate in the 2017 class.

“Leadership Hastings connected me with the community, the businesses of Hastings, and the people of Hastings. It presented me with the opportunity to meet passionate people who love the community they live in and are always striving to make it better. Hastings is a great place to live but it is our responsibility to make it a better place to live for future generations. What can you do to make it better? Live, Learn, Laugh and Love.”

A place to begin or grow knowledge of the community. In addition, our program offers leadership training sessions promoting personal and professional growth, networking, for a sense of community and camaraderie, and continued education opportunities focused around high-priority leadership qualities. From there we encourage our program graduates to take on active roles in our community because this is where change can and will happen first.

Here’s where we can make a difference - through participating in the growth of programs like Leadership Hastings, by stepping up to help even if it’s out of our comfort zone and NOT personally beneficial, and by understanding that change happens one small step at a time and what Leadership Hastings offers is one small step in the right direction to influence greater change and community success. This is why we take time to learn about our town. This is why we volunteer. This is why we try to grow as leaders in our own community.

Thank you for your continued support of Leadership Hastings and our community!
