SCHEDULING/IGPS FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL
YEAR
CHANGES ARE COMING!
AIKEN HIGH SCHOOL WILL BEGIN ARENA SCHEDULING IN FEBUARY 2015
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? We are not doing paper course request sheets WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR ASSIGNED,
MANDATORY APPOINTMENT TIME YOU WILL HAVE YOUR SCHEDULE FOR THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR TO TAKE WITH YOU
HOW DOES THIS WORK? It starts with 3 Homerooms in late January/early February…
1st Homeroom- January 28th
View a copy of 2015-2016 Master Schedule
1st Homeroom Continued- Use Master Schedule Sheet (Previous slide) to create 3 options for your schedule for
2015-2016. Numbers 1-7 under Semester 1 and 2 are periods 1-7.
1st Homeroom Continued- You will have your transcript audit from today and teacher recommendations (see below) to help you fill out 3 schedule options. You will return sheets to your
Homeroom teacher to keep until the 2nd Homeroom
2nd Homeroom- February 3rd- During this homeroom you will complete the 3 Schedule Options Form to take home for parent signature. THIS FORM MUST BE RETURNED WITH A PARENT SIGNATURE BY THE 3RD HOMEROOM DATE OF FEBRUARY 5TH.
3rd Homeroom- February 5th- During this homeroom your Homeroom Teacher SHOULD HAVE your signed copy of the 3 Schedule Options Form to return to Guidance. If your Homeroom Teacher DOES NOT HAVE your form, a standard schedule form will be created for you that will be used during your IGP appointment. This form is the template for your schedule and MUST BE RETURNED to your Homeroom Teacher.
What can I expect during my IGP registration appointment? Each IGP appointment will be 15 minutes long Meet with a Career Specialist to discuss career
goals and update IGP Then meet with Guidance Counselor who will
review 3 Schedule Options Form, teacher recommendations, transcript audit and graduation requirements to build your schedule for next year.
Students and parents will be able to ask questions during the appointment regarding the scheduling process. If there are still questions at the end of the appointment time, we will be happy to meet with you after all scheduling is done after Spring Break.
How are IGP appointment times determined?
Aiken High Students are scheduled to register based on their grade level classification. (Rising 12th graders go first, then rising 11th graders, then rising 10th graders.)
Appointment times are randomly computer-generated in order to make this process as fair as possible for students to select electives.
You will be given your appointment date and time well in advance of your appointment so your parents can plan to attend your IGP with you.
What happens if I can’t make it to my IGP appointment. May I reschedule?
If you cannot make it to your assigned appointment time, one of the Guidance Counselors will build your schedule without you based on the 3 Schedule Options Form turned into your Homeroom Teacher and your teacher recommendations so you can still have your priority scheduling slot.
If you want to reschedule your appointment time, we will gladly see you after all scheduling has been completed after Spring Break.
If your parents cannot attend, they can participate with you in your IGP appointment via phone conference. Make sure Guidance has a working phone number for your parent.
Will I be able to change my schedule when school starts?
Please be aware that since you are meeting directly with a Guidance Counselor during your IGP appointment to create your schedule, your schedule will be FINAL.
Changes after the IGP appointment will only be made if You did not pass a class this school year that is needed
for a class selected for next year You do not have a class on your schedule that you need
to graduate (i.e. English, Math…etc) You previously passed a class that is on your schedule
