At our last committee meeting AANSWCommittee decided to introduce theinaugural Spring Bazaar for our membersat the meeting on 12 September. If youhave goods you would like to sell please letme know by Wed 9 September. There willbe (1) table available for each vendor so
just bring a small selection of your goods.
If you have a service to offer or simply wishto have a table to display brochures, business cards, etc then please advise meby the above date.
To date we have a few vendors wishing todisplay their goods/services. The tables arefree. As we dont have a lot of space it willbe first in. This will hopefully be the first ofmany annual Spring Bazaars.
As you can see from the Calendar this
month Yasmin Boland is presenting a talkon one of the fixed stars Algol. Yasminhas been doing quite a bit of research andwork on this particular talk and my feelingis it will be a good one. Yasmin haspresented part of it at SARS but since thenhas significantly expanded the talk and Imlooking forward to hearing about Algol asthis star sits on my ascendant. In thesecond half Anita will facilitate a discussionof some of the other fixed stars so shouldbe a great day. Dont forget we also have
our AGM at this meeting but we will getthrough that as quickly as possible soYasmin can begin her talk on time.
If you are planning to attend the HoraryWorkshop on 25 October please let usknow at the September meeting. We havehad a number of expressions of interest butwe need reasonably firm numbers so weknow if the chosen venue will be bigenough for the numbers. There are stillmembers who said theyd like to come buthavent filled out the registration form.

AstroView
With Clementine of Aqua Moon
Forewarned is forearmed or so the saying goes. This month lets at least be forewarned.Mercury stations on 6 September and heads off into another retrograde phase on 8September at 06 Libra 13'. This time my computers backup system is working!!! Of coursethis trickster will probably have something else up his sleeve to catch me unawares.
Checking the house this retrograde period will travel through in your own chart will certainlyhelp you be alert to any mercurial misadventures. With my own eighth house in the firing
line I am doing my best to get such things as tax returns and superannuation forms filled outand sent off well before the close down date. Most of us seem to come unstuck in some wayor other when Mercury heads backwards in motion. And the effects might not always appearto be in the physical sense. Whilst the winged messenger is in reverse our thoughts andthinking tend to go inwards. We seem to know what we are on about but the ability to givewords or meaning to the internal ideas may not come out as clearly as you are thinkingthem. Herein lies one of the most common drawbacks of Mercury retrograde nobody seemsto understand you. With this retrograde period in Libra, relationships are particularlyvulnerable, or at least communication between partners might be at risk. Mercury willreverse his position on 29 September stationing direct at 21 Virgo 42' and finally heading offfull steam ahead on 30 September. We wont be fully out of the woods until 18 Octoberwhen Mercury crosses over its retrograde point once again. Between now and then it might
pay dividends to be astute in all our dealings with others, watch our words carefully, askpeople to repeat back instructions just so you know you are both on the same page. Tediousit may be but it sure as hell beats repairing damaged relationships.
Heading off in the opposite direction is Pluto who comes out of retrogradation on 11September at 00 Capricorn 40'. The last time the Lord of the Underworld highlighted thiszodiacal position was 16 December. For those of you with a good memory or a detailed diaryentry you may know what occurred on or around this time for you. You may gain some sortof clarification or deeper meaning to whatever was most prominent in your world at thattime. Pluto will now stay in forward gear until April 2010, passing over its retrograde point of03 Capricorn 17' around the same time as the bells toll for the incoming new year. On amundane level it has been predicted that this dwarf planet will pick up where he left off, exposing government and corporation fraud, lies and secret deals. No doubt the stockmarket will be in for another bumpy ride especially in the New Year when the masterunraveller heads into new territory.
Just before we move onto our Moon stories lets finish with the planetary movements for thismonth. The rush of last month which saw Mercury and Venus change sign twice, Mars moveon and even the nodes amend their affiliations September has the personal planets takinga rest. As we have already noted Mercurys need to rest is extended into a retrograde sleepover which also has him returning into Virgos domain on 18 September. Venus joins him inthe world of the virgin two days later. And other than the Sun switching signs on 23September the planets are taking things easy.

OK lunation cycles. The Sun Moon face off occurs on 5 September at 2:01am with the axisfalling over Virgo and Pisces at 12 15'. This Full Moon underscores the differences betweenlogic and magic, between the analytic and the intuition, between order and disorder, betweenfact and fiction. Whichever way you look at it we have a time of confusion or rather conflictas these two play out their roles above us.
The emotional/feeling part of us will want to go with the flow, dream, create, seek meaningbeyond reality. The ego will want facts, details, data, spreadsheets and order. And we willbe caught in the middle. Not unlike the Sabian symbol for the Full Moon: Sun at 13 Virgo:a powerful statesman overcomes a state of political hysteriaand Moon at 13 Pisces: a swordused in many battles is now in a museum. In other words lets not spend too much timefighting over whether the Sun or the Moon energies should take precedence but rather letssee if we cant incorporate them both in a calm and creative methodical manner.
The New Moon on 19 September at 4:44am comes together with both Moon and Sun at 25Virgo 59'. The last few degrees of Virgo are under pressure on this day. The New Moon rulersits only three degrees away and Saturn who has been in residence in Virgo since this timetwo years ago sits at the exact same degree. Saturn is also in an almost exact opposition to
Uranus. These two have been playing around with each other since November 2008 and willcontinue to do so until the last punch is thrown in July 2010 when they are again exactlyopposite at 01 Libra. We remember that this struggle between the one who represents theold, staid, traditional methods and the other who supports change, revolution, upset, sawBarack Obama voted into power. The play off continues in your own chart as well. Lookagain to the houses where this dispute is playing out and ascertain whether you are allowingthe change to be incorporated (in the house where Uranus is transiting) or is the fear keepingyou stuck in the old ways of the house where Saturn currently resides. The last time thesetwo sat in a similar position was back in the turbulent 60s when Bob Dylan penned thewords: the times they are a changing. And that they are!!
Enjoy.

The F.A.A 18thBi-Annual InternationalAstrology Conference Workshops
Clare Martin
Relationships, Personality Theory and the Astrology of Film
In this workshop we will focus on six major relationship patterns recognised by personalitytheory and present in every birth chart. Well known films provide an excellent contemporaryvehicle for the imaginative and creative exploration of these archetypal themes. Our reactionto films is always intensely personal, and films which attract or repel us, or which we need to
watch repeatedly, reveal internal truths literally in projection - which are seeking to beabsorbed, processed or worked through. We continue to revisit and repeat the inherentdilemmas contained within these stories until we have consciously recognised, integrated andoutgrown them, which is why films can have such powerful cathartic and therapeutic value.
Please bring your birth charts and a story from a film or fairy tale which has personalmeaning for you, and we will consider how these can illustrate important relationshippatterns and other major themes in your birth chart.
Greg Bogart
Astrology and Dreams
In this workshop you'll experience how astrology and dream work can be combined into atransformative spiritual practice. Dream symbols closely reflect our natal and transitingplanets. We'll consider the meaning of dreams occurring during particular transits and
progressions, and how planetary and dream archetypes manifest in waking life. Decoding themessages of dreams and transits together generates a potent broth of upsurgent feelings, pressing tasks, and energies rising within us in conscious response to change. Participants inthis process-oriented workshop will be encouraged to transform themselves in response tothe spiritual lessons and directives revealed through astrology and dreams.

Financial Astrology..On The Shoulders of GiantsAnne Elliot
Planning your retirement? Dreaming of a holiday to Hawaii? Annes advice could be justwhat youre looking for! Of course, you will need to do the work for yourself. Anne helpsto inspire and assist in an understanding of the processes involved.
After working quite a lot with Horary Astrology, Anne gravitated to Financial Astrologybecause, as she says, it providesyou with evidence of the truth of astrology and its use.
Anne reminds us that it is important to understand ourselves before we venture into theminefield of finances. Do you merely want enough money to have a holiday once a year?Do you want to get into the Corporate scene? It is your choice!
Anne explains the difference between trade charts and inauguration of a company; sheassists in the clarification of the differences and the way in which one should approachthese differences. Anne also explains that one needs to understand how to trade ratherthan just using astrology as a means to financial freedom. A group known as AustralianTechnical Analysis Association (ATAA) is noted as a means by which this knowledge canbe attained. Anne also directs us to the ASX site via the Internet, which provides us with
company incorporation dates.
Horse racing is mentioned as is the importance of Jupiter in connection with your ownnatal chart. Want to know more? Anne is easy on the ear and she provides lots ofpractical advice. This CD of a two-part series is certainly worth listening to, for those whohope to fill the coffers.

Speakers ReportVedic Astrology
Presenter: Dorothy Soper
Dorothy Soper was well prepared with several handouts for everyone as shebegan to take us on a journey into the world of Vedic astrology Joytish. She began with a little of the history to give some understanding and showedus how to view a Northern Vedic Chart as available in Solar Fire.
The Northern Indian chart is a square chart with the centre diamond showingthe four angular houses. To have a look a your Northern Vedic chart in Solar
Fire open your chart then go to New Chart and using the same data butselecting (from the menus on the right side) firstly for House System Wholesign and then for Zodiac Lahiri. Press enter and then when you open thechart go to Pages on the right side menu and under Vedic select VedicNorthern India. Your planets and angles will have moved as there is adifference of approximately 23 degrees between Vedic and Tropical zodiacpositions (difference for births in 1940 23 degrees, 23 degrees 51 minutes in2000 and by 2010 this will be 24 degrees).
Dorothy explained about Association, Vedic aspects including special aspects,Exaltation and Debilitation including the associated degrees, the friends andenemies (which planet likes or doesnt like the other), the natural Beneficsand Malefics and the Four Principles of Life in Vedic Astrology. These areArtha, security and assets, Kama, desire relating and experiencingenjoyment, Dharma, natural law, Moksha, liberation and transformation andthat all four of these principles or goals are important to achieve a fullyrounded and balanced life.
We explored a chart or two in the Vedic System and even tried to work oneout that Dorothy had prepared for us so we could gain a betterunderstanding. It was all very interesting and Dorothy did a great job of
explaining and it is interesting to see your own chart converted to the Vedicsystem it puts a whole new light on your chart! The book Dorothyrecommends if you would like to delve a little deeper into Joytish is Light onLife An Introduction into the Astrology of India by Hart De Fouw and RobertSvoboda and this is available at Amazon books.
