Magnificent Seven
Find somewhere wondrous to eat, drink and socialise seven days a week in Seven Dials.
MEAT-FREE MONDAY Redemption, 15 Shorts Gardens Go for a meat-free Monday at Redemption where any decision you make will always be a healthy one, for you and the planet. This is literally billed as ‘the world’s healthiest restaurant’, serving up vegan, sugar-free and wheat-free food with an alcohol-free bar. Be good to yourself with the locals’ favourite Californication: roasted sweet potato and red onion hash with mushrooms, kale, spinach, rosemary and a squeeze of lemon. Magnificent indeed!
CEVICHE TUESDAY Monmouth Kitchen, 20 Mercer Street Revel in relaxed luxury at the heart of Seven Dials. The Monmouth Kitchen ethos is all about embracing the art of shared dining and the culinary delights of the Mediterranean and South America. There’s a masterful contemporary selection of Italian and Peruvian small plates, complemented with the finest wines and signature cocktails. Ceviche is the seafood house speciality, a South American dish of marinated fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices. Choose from the tiger prawn or lobster ceviche to make your Tuesday a truly tasty treat.
WEDNESDAY MATINEE The Barbary, 16 Neal’s Yard The place to go before any matinee show, The Barbary prides itself on small plates with plenty of spices and flavour, served at a central kitchen bar with a buzzing atmosphere. The menu reflects the countries from the Atlantic coast through to the Mediterranean Sea leading to Israel, and all dishes are cooked in the purest way – with fire! The beefy Onglet Shawarma is a joy to behold, but the Cauliflower Jaffa Style take afternoon dining to a whole new level. Everything on the menu is simple, but simply delicious.
THIRSTY THURSDAY Tredwells, 4a Upper St Martin’s Lane If you’re planning to watch a show, you can choose from the dedicated Theatre Menu at top chef Marcus Wareing’s latest restaurant. Tredwells showcases the very best in British seasonal produce developed by Chef Patron, Chantelle Nicholson. Also serving seasonally inspired cocktails, this is one of the best drinks venues in Seven Dials, but as winner of AA’s London Restaurant of the Year, it’s the food that really steals the show. The sea bass with calçot onion, romesco, smoked almonds and mussels is a must.
THANK GOD IT’S FRY-DAY Chick ‘N’ Sours, 1A Earlham Street There are fried chicken restaurants, and then there’s Chick ‘N’ Sours. Its whimsical menu of herb-fed fried chicken, serious seasonal sides and sour cocktails perk up any day of the week, but especially Friday! Start off with some hot Disco Wings and move on to The General, a sandwich filled with fried thigh, Kewpie mayo, lettuce, cheese and pickles, with some Crack fries. Round off with an ice cream creation, and enjoy the top tunes being played while you fill your boots. SATURDAY PIT STOP Boki, 20 Earlham Street Put a bit of pep in your Saturday step at Boki, with its Allpress coffee, the finest around. This independent coffee shop, all-day restaurant and cocktail bar has a real focus on quality ingredients. Treat yourself to smashed avocado on toast with charcoal sourdough, Urfa biber chilli and a poached egg, or indulge in the Cowboy Eggs Benedict with salt beef. A special place to eat, drink and socialise, Boki has a unique cocktail list curated by resident ‘drinksmith’ Matthias Lataille, which utilises Allpress flavours in keeping with its coffee theme.
SUNDAY ROAST Hawksmoor Seven Dials, 11 Langley Street Vegan may be the trend of the moment, but for all those carnivores and meat lovers out there, British steakhouse supreme, Hawksmoor, is the place to make your mouth water.
