Lewis Publishing Co., Inc.
To our valued readers,
This special magazine published by the Lynden Tribune and Ferndale Record celebrates the Whatcom County business community and its many contributions to our wonderful quality of life. We all know this is a great place to live, learn, work, and play. It is our hope that after reading through these pages you’ll get to know these businesses, their owners, and their employees just a little bit better and have a greater understanding of what they have to offer.
Inside our annual magazine of Who’s Who in Business in Whatcom County you’ll see pages of friendly faces—your neighbors—who offer an amazing variety of goods and services.
“Who’s Who” is more than just a directory to the businesses that make Whatcom County their home. This special publication also helps to define our communities that are working hard to establish and build a new economic future. As our population growth continues, so does the number and variety of professional services, retail opportunities and business-to-business outlets. Every year there is less and less reason to leave the county to shop or find top professionals. A mere peek at these pages should convince you of that.
The Lynden Tribune and Ferndale Record have always seen ourselves as an integral part of this community. We value this opportunity each year to publish these snapshots of people and businesses that make life special in this, the most beautiful part of Washington state.
Please enjoy reading our 2012 Who’s Who Business and Service Directory magazine. We are proud to be associated with these fine businesses and professionals in Whatcom County. And, more importantly, we are proud to do business with many of them.
Sincerely,
Michael D. LewisPublisher

LyndenLynden
Lynden is well-known for its beautiful flowers, tree-lined streets and overall picturesque appearance. A hub of north Whatcom County, Lynden is located 12 miles north of Bellingham and four miles from the Canadian border. (From the south, take Interstate 5 Exit 256 and head north on State Route 539; from the north, take I-5 Exit 270 and head east on Birch Bay-Lynden Road.) Dutch heritage has shaped Lynden’s culture, churches and businesses. While the town attracts many tourists, it also serves surrounding rural residents. Lynden-area farmers have made Whatcom County one of the leading counties in the United States in milk and red raspberry production. The Northwest Washington Fair each August draws about 200,000 people.

Many of the best elements of small-town life are evident in the neighboring cities of Everson and Nooksack. The communities are located approximately 12 miles northeast of Bellingham, accessible from the north and south by State Route 9 and from the west by State Route 544. Area farms produce milk and a wide variety of vegetables and fruit.
Sumas is a small town on the Canadian border with 24-hour customs operation. Sumas has become a popular stop for Canadians heading south or filling up with goods on their way to recreation areas at Silver Lake or the Mount Baker Ski Area. A major north-south rail line crosses the border at Sumas.
Acme is a hamlet in the pristine South Fork Valley heading south on State Route 9. It has its own school, a historic railroad and several organic farms in the area.
