STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

Last week, one of our administrative staff

attended BCA training in St. Cloud. Thetraining covered updates on BCA requirementsand other operational programs that support ourdaily work.

Two weeks ago, one of our administrative staffand one of our detectives attended a trainingcourse related to intelligence analysis. This

training will get us going on maintaining acriminal intelligence system and provides

guidance to remaining compliant with state andfederal requirements for this type of data. Over

time, the use of intelligence will be more deeplyintegrated into our daily patrol and investigativefunctions. We are currently developing a “daily

bulletin” system which is accessed by our staffin a shared electronic folder and displayed in a

user friendly powerpoint format. This systemwill be used during officer briefings and willallow for a consistent and detailed flow ofinformation related to notable calls for service, wanted persons, blight and problem property

tracking, and many more functions.

This past week, three of our officers attended afirearms training course in Hibbing. Thistraining keeps them up to date on procedures

and techniques.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

On September 20, 2014, our officers participatedin “Mugs and Hugs” at Gordy’s in association

with WKLK. This event gave us the opportunityto provide DNA collection kits to families. Wealso helped serve rootbeer floats.

This week, staff participated in an exhibition

basketball game at the Cloquet Middle School. The fundraising event “Harlem Ambassadors vs.The Cloquet Crackerjacks” was sponsored by

the Kiwanis Club of  Cloquet and raised fundsfor The Salvation Army.

On Sunday, September 21st, our goodfriends at Zion Lutheran Church came tothe police department and helped us out

with some much needed cleanup and painting. The landscaped area near thefront entry was weeded and cleaned up.

The overhead doors and metal railing onthe building exterior were repainted with a
