I am very pleased that you are considering Northwestern Oklahoma State University as your college choice. Each year, hundreds of high school seniors and college transfers like you make the decision to call Northwestern home.

As you research colleges and universities, you will find most of them have many similarities. Dig a little deeper and you will discover what makes Northwestern unique.

Our academic courses are taught by qualified faculty who are experts in their fields and skilled at teaching. You will develop strong relationships with them as they mentor you and offer assistance outside of the classroom. Your education is of paramount importance to us and so you will not find teaching assistants leading classes at Northwestern.

Northwestern offers convenience with three campuses serving northwest Oklahoma, online degree completion programs, and expanding opportunities at the University Center of Ponca City. In addition, there is no greater educational value than Northwestern. Our scholarship program is second to none with special incentive scholarships available at no other institution.

3 Lab Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or any lab science certified by the school district. General Science may not be used to meet this requirement)

Admissions Northwestern admission standards are established by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and are based on performance and curricular requirements.

Admission requirements to attend Northwestern may differ slightly whether you are an incoming freshman, transfer or returning after an absence. The information below should help with what you’ll need to do to become a member of the Ranger family.

Participation ScholarshipsScholarship money for doing what you LOVE to do!

Northwestern provides its students with a number of ways to earn scholarship money to help defray the costs of going to school. Participation scholarships are great in that all you have to do is be an active part of the team! And, it usually doesn’t matter what your major/minor is! Be involved in:

Fine Arts Scholarships (Band, Choir, Speech/Theatre, Visual Arts)• Band, Choir, Speech/Theatre, Visual Arts must be enrolled in a corresponding academic course(s)• Three groups available in choir: Concert Choir, University Chorale and University Singers (by audition)• Band scholarships available in Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band (by audition)• Band members must attend all athletic pep band and concert performances• Additional scholarship monies for students in All State Choir or All State Band• Speech/Theatre students are expected to participate in theatre events/activities, which can be on- or off-

Athletics

The dreams of many Northwestern students come true by participating in intercollegiate athletics. More than 400 students are a part of the varsity athletics program. Cheering on the Rangers is a big part of the campus culture and unites every part of the campus community.

In July 2015, Northwestern was granted full membership in Division II of the NCAA. All sports except rodeo, cheerleading and dance compete in the Great American Conference.

Intramural Sports help keep you in shapeIf you still have that competitive edge and don’t play varsity sports, you’ll want to check out our Intramural Sports program throughout the school year. Sports played in past years include flag football, basketball, volleyball, softball and dodgeball to name a few.

A new tradition at Homecoming is powderpuff flag football where the females get involved against each other. The freshmen/juniors pair up against the sophomores/seniors.
