The 25th
ASCOJA Conference 2019, under the theme of "Succeeding Together ASEAN and
Japan –Towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games" was held on 4th
October
(Friday) to 6th October 2019 (Sunday) at the Donchan Palace Hotel in Vientiane Capital, Lao
PDR.
The following twenty members from Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA) led by
President Prof. Dr. Myo Khin attended the Conference.

In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Myo Khin attended the 2nd
Session of the 15th
ASJA-ASCOJA-
JAOL International Symposium on “Food Safety: Advancing ASEAN and Japan
Cooperation” together with U Soe Win and U Aung Kyi Thwin at the Ball Room of the Don
Chan Palace Hotel, Vientiane, Lao PDR. U Tin Lin from Myanmar presented a paper on
“Food Safety in Myanmar”.
At 17:00 pm, Prof. Dr. Myo Khin attended the ASCOJA Governors meeting together with
U Soe Win (Vice President) and Daw Mo Mo San (Secretary General) at the Meeting Room of
Don Chan Palace Hotel.
Later, the Welcome Dinner was held at the Ball Room of Don Chan Palace Hotel.

The 25th
ASCOJA Conference Opening Ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of the Don
Chan Palace Hotel, Vientiane, Lao PDR. Following registration, the guests were seated at inside
the Grand Ballroom.
Before the opening ceremony, Karate Performance was shown by kids. The Welcome Remarks
was given by Mr. Panya Chanthavohg, President of Japan Alumni of Laos (JAOL).
Congratulatory Message from the Japan Prime Minister Abe Shinzo was read by the Ambassador
of Japan H. E. Mr. Keizo Takewaka. It was followed by a speech by H.E. Mr. Kenji
Wakamiya, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. H.E Sengdeuane Lachanthaboune,
Minister of Education and Sports, and President of the “Laos-Japan Friendship Association” gave
her speech. It was followed by a Photo Session.

Four Keynote speakers gave their speeches and presentations. Mr. Uchida Tatsukuni, Head of
Exchange Programs Division, Department of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan
gave a presentation on “Olympics, Paralympics and Sport for Tomorrow”. Mr. Kasem Inthala,
the Vice President of Lao National Olympic Committee presented on the “Lao PDR engagement
in the Olympic and Paralympic Games”, Mr. Masanori Shoken Narita, the President of Japan
Canoe Federation, Asian Canoe Confederation gave a presentation on “The successful story for
the changes on Canoe Olympic Rule” and Ms. Tomiko Maejima, the President of Asian
Development with the Disabled Persons (ADDP) presented about “Parasports, Paralympics and
Japan-Lao Collaborations”

In the afternoon, representatives from each chapter presented their Experiences on “Succeeding
Together ASEAN and Japan –Towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games”.
Dr. San Shwe presented the Myanmar’s Experience titled “Engagement and preparation
Towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games”.
In the evening, all delegates attended the reception hosted by H. E. Mr. Keizo Takewaka,
Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR. The reception was held at the Ambassador’s Residence.

October 2019
In the morning, all the delegates of the ASCOJA chapters went to the Wat Simeuang Temple and
offered alms to the monks.
The delegates joined the City Tour (Thatluang, Patuxay Gate of Triumph, Wat Horphakeo,
Wat Sisakhet) organized by Japan Alumni of Laos (JAOL) and took group photos.

In the afternoon, ASCOJA Council Meeting was held at the meeting room of Don Chan Palace
Hotel. Myanmar delegates U Soe Win (Vice President), Daw Mo Mo San (Secretary General)
and Dr. Zay Yar Lin (EC member) led by the President Prof. Dr. Myo Khin attended the meeting.
After the ASCOJA Council Meeting, ASJA Directors Meeting was carried out at the same venue
and the above-mentioned delegates attended the meeting.
In the evening, all the delegates attended the Farewell Gala Dinner at the Ball Room of the Don
Chan Palace Hotel, Vientiane. Closing Remarks was given by ASCOJA Chairman Mr. Panya
Chanthavohg, President of Japan Alumni of Laos (JAOL). Handing over Ceremony of ASCOJA
Chairmanship to Japan University Graduate Alumni Singapore (JUGAS) was successfully
carried out. Mr. Jenn En Yee, the President of JUGAS gave a thank you Speech.
