Atomic Energy Act (1962)
empowers the Union Government.
i) to develop and dispose atomic energyand electric power from it.
ii) to produce, acquire and disposeradioactive materials.iii) to declare its areas as "prohibitedareas"
iv) to provide for control over radioactive
substances and to ensure public safety.v) to provide for control over mining ofnuclear raw materials such as Uranium.
