Sowing and reaping
Principles that apply equally to
business and the winning of the lost
Marketplace facts: Sowing and ReapingMarketplace facts: Sowing and Reaping
#1. Get out there and sow the seed because in time
you will reap the benefits of your efforts.

“Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you will find it
after many days.”(Ecc. 11:1)

#2. Diversify your efforts on several fronts, as you do not know what
misfortune lies ahead.
“Divide your portion to seven, or
even to eight, for you do not know what mischance may occur on the
earth.” (Ecc. 11:2)

#3. Be forever at the sowing process as you do not know which of your efforts will pay
off.
“Sow your seed in the morning, and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether
morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.” (Ecc
11:6)

#4. Don’t wait for the perfect conditions before sowing or
reaping as they may never exist.
Marketplace facts: Sowing and ReapingMarketplace facts: Sowing and Reaping
“He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at
the clouds will not reap.”(Ecc. 11:4)

#5. Understand that God is behind the scenes sovereignly (though perhaps
mysteriously) superintending
everything. “Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant
woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things.”
(Ecc. 11:5)

Walking with God
• If you are walking with God don’t underestimate the unimaginable impact you can have on another person by simply loving them and caring enough to risk by getting into their life.
Marketplace facts: Sowing and ReapingMarketplace facts: Sowing and Reaping
Walking with God• Could it be that most of our
relationships with fellow believers are characterised by benign indifference?
• Not hate, not anger…just indifference.
• May God help us to not miss His ordained opportunities for us.

The ‘boomerang effect• The unalterable
reality that ultimately we will reap what we sow:
…Those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it... (Job 4:8b)
Marketplace facts: Sowing and ReapingMarketplace facts: Sowing and Reaping
The ‘boomerang effect
• He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance... (Prov. 28:10)

The ‘boomerang effect
• He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head. (Psa. 7:14-16)

The ‘boomerang effect• Give, and it shall be given unto you;
good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Lk. 6:38 KJV) (See Psa. 57:6; Prov. 22:8,9;26:27; Ecc. 10:8; Hos 10:12,13; Lk. 18:29, 30; Gal. 6:7,8)

Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I
surrender myself to walk in the Word in the marketplace. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.
• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.
• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen

Learning, application and commitment: James 1: 22-25
• “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
• Do what it says. • Anyone who listens to the word but does not do
what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
• But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.” (NIV)
