Raymond “Ray” C. Fries,92, of Mooresville, died Sun-day, Aug. 21, 2005 at his home.

Born May 6, 1913 in RowanCounty, he was a son of thelate Channing Hilliard andMittie Brigitte Poole Fries. Hewas educated in the RowanCounty Schools and graduat-ed from Woodleaf HighSchool. Mr. Fries worked atCascade Mills as a weaver,loomfixer and preventive-maintenance supervisor andretired from Burlington In-dustries in 1971. A lifelong far-mer, he was also a radio/tele-vision repair technician andowned and operated Ray FriesTV Service. Mr. Fries grew upin the Mt. Tabor MethodistChurch in Rowan County.After moving to the ProspectCommunity in 1940, hejoined Prospect PresbyterianChurch where he served asdeacon, elder, treasurer, trus-tee, clerk of the session andchoir member. He was PastMaster of Mooresville Mason-ic Lodge, No. 496, A.F. andA.M.

Mr. Fries was married for68 years to Libby Brown Fries,who preceded him in death.

Four brothers and threesisters also preceded him indeath.

Survivors include a son,Timothy Ray Fries; a daugh-ter, Janielle Watkins; a brother,C.H. Fries; two granddaugh-ters, Lisa Fries Montgomeryand Holly Fries Lipson; andthree great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were heldTuesday, Aug. 23 at ProspectPresbyterian Church withburial following in the churchcemetery.

Edward Russell Peveler, Jr.,67, of Mooresville, diedThursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at hishome.

Born Feb. 1, 1938, in Brad-shaw, W.Va., he was a son ofthe late Edward Russell Peve-ler, Sr. and Edith KennedyPeveler. He was former gener-al manager of PGI. Prior to hisemployment at PGI, Mr. Pe-veler was general manager ofBurlington Industries for 25years. An artist, he was a U.S.Army veteran.

Mr. Peveler was precededin death by his wife, Beulah“Lorraine” Lowe Peveler.

Survivors include his chil-dren, Lisa P. Miller of Char-lotte, Nancy P. Strickland ofKernersville, Russ Peveler andStephanie King, both ofMooresville, Frank Peveler ofDurham and Lorri P. Powersof Portsmouth, Va.; sister,Marilyn McMahon of Union,Mich.; and grandchildren,Jesse Peveler, Russell PevelerIV, Wyeth Strickland, EthanPeveler, Walker Rogers, Mag-gie Powers, Samuel King andDavid Powers.

Thomas Eugene “Gene”Barnette, 85, of Mooresville,died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005 athis home.

He was born May 9, 1920 inIredell County, a son of thelate Wallace and Lottie Hon-eycutt Barnette. He retiredfrom McKnight Pontiac Buickwhere he worked as a me-chanic for 28 years. Mr. Bar-nette served in the U.S.Army’s 101st Artillery Divisionduring World War II. He was amember of McKendree Cha-pel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Barnette was marriedto Louise Armstrong Bar-nette, who preceded him indeath on Dec. 14, 1993.

A son, Wayne Barnette,who died in Vietnam in 1967,a brother, Andrew Barnette, asister, Vessie Black and a great-granddaughter, Samantha,also preceded him in death.

Survivors include threechildren, Ronnie Barnetteand Tommy Barnette, both ofMooresville, and Jerry Bar-nette of Catawba; one sister,Annie “Anne” Stutts of Sher-rills Ford; eight grandchil-dren, Tammy Clodfelter,Ricky Barnette, Renee Mc-Kenzie, Scott Barnette, ChrisBarnette, Sue Anne Kelly, Ca-sey Barnette and Robbie Bar-nette and nine great-grand-children.

Funeral services are sched-uled for 11 a.m., today, Wed-nesday, Aug. 24, at McKen-dree Chapel United Metho-dist Church with Rev. Bill Ger-hardt and Rev. Grady Bar-ringer officiating. Burial willfollow in the church ceme-tery.

Rhonda Culp Walters Col-lins, 53, of Mt. Ulla, died Wed-nesday, Aug. 17, 2005 at Caro-linas Medical Center.

Born Nov. 28, 1951 to thelate Richard B. and FrancesCook Culp, Mrs. Collins was aregistered nurse at Hunters-ville Oaks.

Mrs. Collins was married toFloyd Collins, who survives.

In addition to her hus-band, survivors include a son,Paul Clinton Walters of Cor-nelius; a daughter, JamieLeigh Walters of Mooresville;two stepdaughters, Betty Do-bey of Mooresville and JaneRogers of Green Mountain;two brothers, Richard Culp ofHomosassa, Fla. and RonCulp of Weddington; andgrandchildren, Taylor andTanner Bowers.

A memorial service washeld Saturday, Aug. 27 in thechapel at Neill Funeral Home.Burial followed in ForestLawn East.

Carolyn Virginia DellingerTemple, 61, of Huntersville,died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005at Presbyterian Hospital.

She was born Sept. 17, 1943in Lincoln County, a daughterof the late Beverly Ashby andMary Virginia Barker Dellin-ger. Mrs. Temple was an activemember of Fairfield UnitedMethodist Church in Denverwhere she had been theorganist since she was tenyears old. A graduate of RockSprings High School, she wasa receptionist at the law firmof Karro, Sellers and Langstonin Charlotte.

Mrs. Temple was marriedto Kenneth “Ken” Raye Tem-ple Sr., who survives.

In addition to her hus-band, survivors include sons,Kenneth “Kent” Raye TempleJr. of Mooresville and KirkAshby Temple of Charlotte;stepdaughter, Tonya Craig ofRock Hill; brother, Stanley A.Dellinger of Denver; sister,Kaye Parham of Seneca, S.C.;grandsons, Kenneth “KT”Raye Temple III, Hunter DeanTemple and Frederick AshbyTemple; stepgrandsons, Wil-liam and Robbie Craig; niecesand nephews.

Funeral services were con-ducted Sunday, Aug. 21 in thearbor of Rock Springs Camp-ground. Burial followed atFairfield United MethodistChurch.

Born July 28, 1916 inClarksburg, W.Va., a daughterof the late William and DelmaYates Matheny, Mrs. Hopkinswas an elementary schoolteacher. She was an activemember of Davidson CollegePresbyterian Church, and in2003 was named an HonoraryLifetime Member of Presby-terian Women of the Church.Mrs. Hopkins was awardedthe Algeron Sydney SullivanAward by Davidson College in1984 and the 10-year Facili-tator Award by AlzheimerAssociation in 1997. She wasactive in community servicefor 47 years including HotLunch and Meals on Wheelsat the Ada Jenkins Com-munity Center.

Survivors include a son,John Thomas Hopkins ofCharlotte; daughters, MaryMatin of Davidson, LindaFarkas of Paeonian, Va. andGail Huffman of Titusville,Fla.; 11 grandchildren andnine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service washeld Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Da-vidson College PresbyterianChurch.

She was born Feb. 1, 1921in Gaffney, S.C., a daughter ofthe late Robert and OuidaLipscomb Guest. Mrs. Harrywas a member of Bethel Pres-byterian Church, was a grad-uate of Limestone Collegeand also studied at ColumbiaUniversity. She taught for 30years at W.R. Odell, J.M.Alexander Junior High andRanson Junior High.

Mrs. Harry was married toDon Harry, who preceded herin death.

Survivors include sons, Dr.Robert Harry of Fredericks-burg, Va., Ben Harry of Austin,Texas and George Harry ofCary; daughter, Donna H.Cochrane of Buford, Ga.; ninegrandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were con-ducted Sunday, Aug. 21 atBethel Presbyterian Church.

Born June 25, 1926 inMecklenburg County to thelate Clarence Calvin and LilliePuckett Bosher, Mrs. Nancewas a member of Grace Cov-enant Church, attended Cor-nelius High School and re-tired from Reeves Brothers.

Survivors include her sons,Marion Nance and John Cof-fey, both of Mooresville andRobert V. Coffey of Troutman;daughter, Vivian Faye Bellewof Mooresville; brother, BarryBosher of Charlotte; sisters,Doris Brown of Mooresville,Betty Angle of Charlotte andSharon Cooke of Chester,S.C.; nine grandchildren andseven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were con-ducted Tuesday, Aug. 23 atGrace Covenant Church. In-terment followed at Mt. ZionCommunity Cemetery.

Mrs. Stallings was preced-ed in death by her husband,Robert “Bob” William Stal-lings and sisters, MargaretElizabeth Caskey and Ger-trude Louise Clark.

She is survived by her

nephew, Pressley EdwardMullinax, of Simi Valley, Calif.;niece, Renee Clark Sharpe ofTroutman; a great-niece; agreat-nephew; and a numberof cousins.

Funeral services will beheld at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug.25, at the Cavin-Cook FuneralHome Chapel, with Rev. Ste-phen C. Porter officiating.Burial will follow in Glen-wood Memorial Park.
