the property to find a trusted and reliable high-speed Internet
access (HSIA) service provider. Prior to 2012, Hayman was
unhappy with its HSIA provider, which was unable to deliver the
interfaces and integrations needed to properly serve Hayman’s
guests.
• With the previous HSIA solution, Hayman was also unable to
brand services for guests or charge for Internet access, thereby
losing out on an opportunity to generate additional revenue.
• Perhaps the most glaring deficiency was the lack of
Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA)—a method
for transmitting access requests in the form of user credentials,
service authorization, and session accounting details between
devices and networks in a real-time manner.

• Hayman turned to McLaren Technologies, an Asia Pacific IT
solutions specialist, to package, integrate and install a series of
Internet technology products.
• McLaren provided its HSIA guest portal and Web-based hotspot
software in conjunction with a Nomadix Internet access gateway
and hospitality module. The hospitality module in particular
enabled seamless integration with the property management
system, thus allowing Hayman to direct bill Internet access to
each guest’s room charges as appropriate.
• Equipped with a range of bandwidth management tools, the
integrated solution optimized available bandwidth by limiting
usage symmetrically or asymmetrically on a per-device (MAC
address / User / Plan) basis. The solution also managed the WAN
link traffic to provide complete bandwidth management over the
entire network, thus ensuring that each Hayman guest received
an optimum-quality Internet connection.
• With AAA activated, Hayman could then efficiently offer three
Internet access options to best suit guests’ needs: high-speed
in-room connection for a fee, hotspot plans for those that have a
hotspot account, and free limited-speed access.

The complete Internet technology system has added valuable revenue
to Hayman’s bottom line. Before the solution was implemented,
Hayman was unable to charge guests for Internet access. With
the solution in place, Hayman now has the ability to charge guests
for Internet access based on flexible tiered billing plans, thereby
providing an entirely new revenue stream for the property.
Scalability and coverage
The pervasiveness and quality of Hayman’s Internet connection has
greatly improved.

Hayman guests have three Internet access options from which to
choose.
Branding and new applications
In addition to the three Internet options, guests can now access a
portal featuring current hotel information and immediate one-click
access to social media channels.
Ease of use
In just a few simple steps, guest are able to access the Internet
without issue. This ease of use has resulted in satisfied guests and
minimized any need for the property’s IT staff to become involved.
Increased bandwidth management
With the Nomadix authentication, Hayman is able to track which
guests are using the wireless network to access the Internet, thereby
allowing Hayman to proactively manage available bandwidth. By
placing bandwidth limitations on each device accessing the network,
Hayman can ensure each guest receives a fair share of the available
bandwidth, which leads to a quality user experience.
